Anyone ever use the RS-232 codes in the Mega with the Marantz SR8002 or similar? For some reason I am getting absolutely no response. I made a test config with the codes for a few commands, power on , inputs, etc, se the command for port 1 which the CM-232 and null modem adapter are located, and nothing. Strangely all the emitters are blinking off (don't know if that is normal since I am not sending out any IR and have the port 1 assigned to RS232).

Anyone have any ideas or know if the codes are bad? I just used a power sensor and mono plug into the IR in jack and it works fine, but would like to get this operating over 232. Any insight?

Thanks
Jimmy

Glack, what should I use? Both the RTI CM-232 and the RS232C port on the Marantz are male..

you could use a female to female gender changer

We usually make our own 232 cables with DB9 to RJ45 adaptors, This allows us to put either male of female on the device

Although if its only a few feet we will use a gender changer and a 232 cable

Bit late, but I was just at a job today with a SR7002 and can confirm that its a straight through connection, just a gender bender is required.

(Actually it states in the manual that its a straight though connection. After requiring a null modem cable for the projector's male connection, I just assumed the Marantz was the same. When it didn't work I checked the manual for a pinout (which it doesn't have) but luckily that little piece of info saved me some time.)

Now just got to find out why the receiver wont power on after being shutdown with the rs232 command.

thanks for the link, hadn't checked back here yet but rang my supplier this morning and was told the same thing as suggested in the linked thread.
