I have a project coming up that needs sence inputs and timers. I have seen no new firmware and gotten no feedback from the unit I sent back.

cpchillin was doing a system this week and has not reported issue.

SoundSD is saying the XP8 rocks...

What gives?

I need to know if its time for me to reinvest some time in the XP-8.

The only real issue I am having with latency is when the XP8 receives commands quickly. For example it appears that the XP8 doesn't like having the volume up button pressed a bunch of times in a row. It looks like it caches the commands until it sees that you aren't pushing up anymore and then sends them out. But in a macro it works perfectly, the macro was on the XP8 not on the keypad.
Who says you can't put 61" plasmas up on cantilever mounts using toggle bolts? <---Thanks Ernie ;)

I would have to agree with Sound.SD.

I have an XP-8 at home (I ordered it with control bucks in February '07) and I would definitely say it's ready for prime time. I have not experienced the latency issue, but I have run into some strange issues with sustained serial commands on Integra and DirecTV. Both were easy fixes using macros, and frankly they were problems I could have lived with anyway.

Get ready to do a bit more initial troubleshooting if this is your first unit, but you will definitely be happy with end result. Incidentally, troubleshooting your program goes much more quickly thanks to ethernet programming and NV flags.
