Here is my suggestion for future submissions...

For submission documentations:

Create two new empty strings for documentation.

Name one of them (as quoted) "! ! Submitted By". Note the space between the exclamation points and the text.

Name the other (as quoted) "! ! Date Submitted". Note the space between the exclamation points and the text.

Use the Comment fields to insert your name (or nickname) and the date.
________

In addition, to keep consistant with the RTI configuration documentation (see the Escient device profile), insert additional configuration notes in the following manner:

Create a new empty string for each configuration note (null modem, straight through, odd pin info, activation proceedures, etc...)

Name it (as quoted) "! Configuration"

Use the Comment field to insert the info.
________

How does this sound? Too complicated?

Hi all

I'm currently looking at whether to invest in an RTI control system (as an alternative to a PC based home automation system). But before I do, I'd like to get an idea of the devices that the RTI products can now communicate with (two way 232 basis) using the XP8. It seems from this thread and other that a new 232 library exists but it also appears that, unless you are a dealer or integrator, you can't get access to this list. Is anyone able to send me a copy of the list (and perhaps the current version of the mega list here) so that I can get see which devices are (or are to be) supported for 232 communication. This will give me a much better idea of whether it is worth me contacting an integrator about the instalation of an RTI system.
Many thanks
Couj

I think you need to contact a dealer, these list are not going to have anythiing the end-user will need. The dealer will be able to go over a system that will work for you. Yes only dealers have access to the software. Also the xp-8 most likely will not be 2-way for a while, and has a long line just to get your hands on the xp-8.

232 is an open control format. If a protocol exists you can control it. It does not matter if the strings are in the library yet or not. You can easily add them.

This has happened to me several times lately. The actual full address gets truncated a bit when posted and it is hit and miss sometimes whether it will work.

Anyway...

Last call for 232 files for the Mega 232 List v1.0 will be Saturday!!!
