I am having difficulty getting a T-2c ramp the volume up and down for the Rotel RSX-1057 using IR. I have attempted recapturing the codes, using Rotels official code set and changing the repeat and sustain functions. Any suggestions?

Create a macro on the Volume button. Within the TT software is a command that says Repeat while button is pressed... or something like that (I don't have my laptop open). Put the volume command in the bracket and away you go. I'm not sure why, but all the Rotel peices require you to do it this way (when using the front IR window).

Use the code set for the RSP1068 that Rotel has on their site. I know they are solid.

ALSO: If the 1057 has an option in the menu for "Volume Speed" set it at Medium or Fast.

Worked like a charm. Thanks for the pointer!

You can also download Rotel supplied pronto files from this site, and open with pronto edit or any of it's derivations. When you open up a button, you can view the hex for its ir command. Copy this hex and paste it into the RTI program in a user database. It works great, and once youve done it you can just open the file and drag the command instead of having to use the button repeat procedure - less time consuming in the long run.

Sometimes the cure is worse than the illness. I was setting up an RTI T2C today and read this thread a few days ago while trying to prepare myself for any weirdnesses I might run across on my first Rotel. It's an RSX1055, but I believed that I might be in for the same problem you had.

I was using commands for different units found in Mega List 14.

Sure enough, problems. I could only get the volume to go one step at a time. But with the suggestions here, I was able to spend an hour trying everything with zero success. I'm using an RP1, and macros don't go on the remote, but on the RP1. So the question was -- do I delete the 0.3 second delay after the command? Do I do the repeat on the remote, having it repeatedly call the macro? Do I put the repeat in the macro on the RP1? When all variations of that didn't work, I thought maybe I needed a tiny bit of time between repeated commands, so went off on that. I also tried this as standalone commands, so you can see I wasted quite a bit of time on it.

I finally did what I always do when the file commands don't just work straightaway. I learned the commands. I used an RTI Learner, which I've found to be bulletproof (but I've got years of experience learning codes on Prontoids, too). And voila, I now have two volume commands that work properly. The macro on the remote calls the system macro, which has only the volume command in it. I didn't have to do A THING to any of the default settings to get it to work. And I added these commands to my copy of Mega List 14. In case you want to try these commands, here they are.

Thanks Ernie, I've been doing it the way I described it above for almost two years... purely a case of habit. I've been doing it so long that I just didn't give it a second thought.

I wouldn't have, either, if I had been able to get it to work! I wonder what I was doing wrong. But not enough to go back and do the research.

I was wondering the same thing. I don't think I've ever used an RP1 with any Rotel gear... strange, considering how much Rotel and RTI we sell. :-p

They client had a Lexicon 700T when I got there, so there was no -- thank you for that comment; I just realized I didn't put the RP1 on the invoice I'm giving them tomorrow -- anyway, I tried the Rotel volume thing as a standalone as well as through the RP1 because I figured if it worked as a standalone I could figure out how to transfer it to a System Macro. No go no how.
