Has there been any good news reported regarding the annoying tilt switch on the newer RTI remotes? I'm getting tired of convincing customers that their brand new $800 remote is not broken. If anyone is going to Cedia next week please let them know they are loosing customers.

Losing customers? It is called communication. I have made all of my customers aware of that "feature" before I even program it. I have not had one customer say it was annoying. In fact, I pointed it out to one while going through the programming, and she couldn't even hear it.
How long does it even last? Do you customers have a habit of rocking it back and forth? You will honestly use another brand remote because the tilt switch clicks? It that is the only thing you customers have to complain about you are in good shape.
I think this is a case of change. We, as installers, are not used to this so it is wrong.

I agree. Although it does make the remote feel a little cheap, I have not had anyone complain, and if they do, i'll just ask them if they world rather have mercury possibly spilling all over their couch.
Then again, the remotes are made in china, so they may be covered in lead paint.

Then again, the remotes are made in china, so they may be covered in lead paint. Ot a little, but I am working with a couple different guys who run a certain toy company and get to hear a little about their issues with Chinese lead paint. What a nightmare...

Then again, the remotes are made in china, so they may be covered in lead paint. The tilt switch is annoying and RTI doesn't need to use Mercury to make a silent tilt switch. Pick up a WII Remote and you'll notice no clicking noises cause Nintendo uses an accelerometer. The fact that you have to explain to each customer that the remote is not broken or that the clicking noise is normal before they receive is crap. For a high end remote RTI shouldn't be using an audible tilt switch. Hopefully RTI is "listening" and will get rid of the audible tilt switch.

Okay, let's look at this. Two guys with very low post counts complain, while 4 with relatively high post count say it is not a problem. Who do you think RTI is going to listen to?

Personally, I'm selling these things out the ying yang... but I still think it makes the remote feel "broken". Every other remote they have, that has a clicking sound when they move it, has a piece broken inside.

I realize most are trying to make the best of this current situation and as I've said before it is an awesome product line which unfortunately has to use 1970's technology for their tilt switch. What's the reason for not using an accelerometer for the tilt switch? Perhaps RTI is working on this for the new products already?

My post count just means I have too much time on my hands... and I like to talk too much....
But seriously, all I'm saying is that its not really a big deal... but it could be better. I installed another 2 of them today, and both were fine, meaning they didn't have the docking issue, or the rigid buttons issue.
Those 2 issues are of more concern to me. But the tilt switch does cheapen the feel of this premium remote. However, its still alot nicer in the hand than a Harmony or most other competitors. (haven't used much in the way of URC)
