I am contemplating getting the IRF-6, but will not get it past my lovely wife if I have to mount an antenna in plain view, or run a cable along a wall somewhere. Basically, my only available option is behind my RPTV stand, which is 13" high and sits in a corner.

Will I still get a reasonable RF reach with the antenna behind the stand?

Thx,

Arjen

The problem with that is they do not recommend placing the antenna within 6 feet of a television, or the unit within 3 feet. Unless your RPTV is LCD-based, you've still got CRTs in there.

Hmmm...so the question is, will the IRF-6 become unreliable if I DO mount it so near to the RPTV, and will the IRF-6 generate interference with my equipment?

Any users out there that have experimented with this?

Vice versa... your equipment will interfere with the IRF-6, probably reducing the possible RF range.

I split the antenna into 2, one on both walls of my HT. Everthing works much better.

Ah...initially thought that the power sensing was sent back to the T2 (duh), but apparently the ON/OFF decision is evaluated in the IRF. So indeed, the IRF would not interfere with my equipment. So far so good.

Frenchie, was your RF range/reliability unacceptable before you split the antenna? And how did you do this?

BTW Daniel...did you get my email on the RR969?

Arjen -- actually no... you can try again, there were a few problems.

I used a BNC splitter with a 16 ft. length of cable and another antenna. I also used a better antenna than the little rubber one that came with the IRF.

Yes, the range and reliability was unacceptable. I tried different placements of the antenna but on longer macros i rarely had one that got all the commands. The dual antenna seems to have fixed it.

Weeeelll....that is not encouraging. I better ask Etronixs if I can return it if it does not work out for me.
