For retail subs, the Bagend and the Sunfire are aweseome (I have a SUnfire True Sub myself)

But there nothing quite like 8 Rockford Fosgate 18" Subs built into custom enclosures(4 on each side of the room) in a Conrete room powered by over 3200Watts RMS power. The bass knocks fillings out of teeth... We had to add 3 M&K MX350s Subs just for Mid-Bass A bit too much of a gap between his 9 M&K S150P's (Triplestack across the front)

The biggest baddest sub woofer made.

The Parthenon. The ultimate loudspeaker driver.
More excursion, more output, higher power handling
than any driver on the face of the earth. A true
82mm one way linear stroke (nearly 6.5 inches
peak to peak linear), and a radiating surface
greater than three 18" subwoofers allows the Parthenon
to generate the highest SPL levels ever achieved
by a single driver (more output than eighteen
high end 18" drivers)...

looks like the flux capacitor i've been trying to find.... how many jigowatts?

I have no idea how it sounds or if it even works, but if it does, you could save enough room in your home theater to add a wet bar. Did you look at the stat's? "Flat anechoic response to 6 Hz." "..generates reference level (121 dB SPL) output at 20 Hz" with a single driver! "..moves about 2.5" ONE WAY with a simple 9V battery to one of the 4 voice coils." "capable of over 66 liters of linear air displacement!" that's more than 18 - 18" high end sub woofers! What if you have four of these? That's to much for me. But I sure would like to hear a room with one of these in it.

Is there another sub out there that can even get close to 6 Hz, I didn't see one on the above list of subs?

Don't think so. The low-trauling, $1900 SVS SS can only get to 10-12Hz and is probably only capable of about 100db peaks in most rooms at that point. But then, the Parthenon costs $5000-8000 just for the drive system, you still have to get an amp. It's a little out of range for most people.

There is a website showing a large sub built into a floor. I don't seem to have a link for it....

Hah! There are people with 2 of those in their room. Apparently they don't care about the structure of their house. Same would go for the Parthenon, of course. That's about the same price as 2 or 3 SVS B4s.

The new PB12-Ultra/2 is perhaps nastier, yet. I can't wait to see an Ultra 4, I'm sure they're working on it.

Not sure what Spiky is refering to? Do you mean that the sub might cause damage to the sturcture? vwpower44, the Brahma is a car type SW, why do you think it is funny. I am not getting it.

I really don’t think you want a sub to go down to 10 cycles, otherwise you might have an unpleasant experience with military level haptics, meaning, you could loose control of your lower digestive tract. Some of the hi end subs I have dealt with over the last 25 or so years, have had a filter included preventing the sub from going that far down.

I sell several of the name brand subs mentioned above, id say for the money, I would buy the Earthquake.

If you just plain want to kill yourself try the BassMax [Link: bassmaxx.com] very amazing fidelity for a professional product, they usually win most of the live sub shootouts.

Funny testimonial

“Never have I heard a better impact. Never EVER. It goes LOW and hits EXTREMELY HARD. The (two) BASSMAXX cabs blew my clothes back, and I was standing 45-50 feet away. Listening to either a bass guitar or an upright bass on the BASSMAXX was a sweet, sweet experience. You could hear and feel the different notes as they were being played rather than that one note that shakes the house down when the player hits it. These BASSMAXX boxes have the extension to get down there and give you a visceral colon cleaning. I think the BASSMAXX sounds great, especially when compared to other available subwoofers. Them subs ROCK!

Yeah, I'm perfectly happy with my SV 2039PC+ with the cutoff set at 16Hz.

What's the specs on the Krell? For 25 grand it better be able to chat with elephants 5 miles away or else the SV subs will put it to shame.

I think the DD-18 is a Velodyne. Perhaps he meant he's driving it with Krell amps.

If he's driving a Velodyne DD-18 with external amps he's defeating the purpose of having a sub with digital room correction!
