Anyone know of a IR Router that handles just 2 devices? The only one I can seem to find is the Xantech which handles 8 devices and about $200+. Kinda overkill for what I need. Thanks Adrian

Control 2 IR devices (SAT receivers) seperately that share the same remote code and cannot be changed. Here is a link to the RT8, but its much more than I need. [Link: xantech.com]

Hmmmm. Tricky! Maybe this: ProntoPro with TWO of the RF extenders. Then in your CCF set one of the SAT receivers commands as RF Channel 0 and the other as RF Channel One. Then set the RF extenders to match and attach the IR emitters for them to the corresponding SAT receivers. Would be pretty easy really as all else you would need to do is duplicate in the CCF the panels, etc. for SAT 1 and SAT 2.... I got my RF extender for my Pro for about $100 so would be less than the xantech and would also put you in RF mode to boot!

Hmmm, maybe the RF extenders would work. I have an MX-500 currently, but I dont think that would matter. Do the RF extender plug into the device they are extending?

they are meant for the ProntoPro. You cannot use them with the MX-500. The Pro an send RF to a base that then sends IR, and it can work with several bases.

The Xantech RT-8 also requires a power supply - 782 $50.00, and a RC68+ IR programmer $160.00, and IR emitters - $10.00 each and a IR receiver - $60.00-$110.00. If you have a Sony sat receiver it would be cheaper to buy another brand as a second receiver, but if you have a RCA or Hughes sat receiver, it is already set up for seperate IR commands.

It's such a fine line between stupid, and clever. |

The 2 conflicted box's are a RCA UTV and RCA DTC-100, both of which you cannot setup seperate IR commands (that I know of). Apparently the UTV beta has this capability but it is unknown when (if ever) it will be available.
Its not a huge problem but there are those times when the 3rd receiver would be nice to control seperately.

I used some RCA pyramids, they receive IR signals and transmit RF then the receiver transmits back in IR to the sat receivers. I kept having problems with interference. So then I got a Channel Plus modulator with the IR targets. It works great for me.
I have going thru this a DVD player, a Replay and 2 sat receivers going to 6 TV'S. I added an additional channel modulator to get the 2nd receiver to work. I picked up the Channel Plus 3025 from Smarthome.com.
Email me and I can give you more specifics.

One possibility is the Ocelot HA controller. This is an X10 logic controller, but can also be used to control IR. You can program it to send an IR signal (through a normal xantech IR emitter), based upon recieving a completely different signal. The only problem with this unit, is that there is a slight lag while comparing the IR recieved and sending the appropriate IR command. Take a look at www.appdig.comCheers, Cammo
