I recently purchased a Panasonic Showstopper with the RePlay tv service, and want to hook up a splitter in order to watch one program while recording another. The manual is not very in depth when it comes to covering this issue. I guess my question is where do I place the splitter in the sequence? Right now I have the coax comming from the wall to the cable box, then to the RePlay. From there, I don't use coax (composite audio and Svideo to switcher, S video to t.v., and audio to the reciever). One thing I didn't mention is that I don't recieve any premium channels without my cable box, so if I split the signal from the wall with one going to the t.v., and the other going to the cable box, I will loose the HBO's when I want to rec. something. ARRGGHHH, I'm confusing myself now! Which can only mean one thing-- there's a simple solution, and I'm just over thinking at this point. I hope someone can help me here, and if more info. is needed, just ask and i'll include it in my next post. Thx in advance

You were great until you said you have premium channels - I have the same setup but we have no premium channels, so voila! No cable box.

From your question you want to be able to record and watch both premium channels and regular channels while being able to watch premium channels and regular channels. I believe that the only way you're going to be able to do this is with (ulp!) two different cable boxes to separately decode the signals.

As we don't have a cable box, our setup is to split the feed from the cable to go to both the Replay and the TV. When we want to watch the Replay we go off of the composite video and the AV receiver. If it's recording and we want to watch something else, we switch over to the cable feed. If you did this, you'd be able to record anything through the cable box feed and watch the regular cable through the regular feed. Not the answer you wanted, I know, but it's all I can think of.

Thanx guys. I just returned the splitter. Way too much hassle. The way I figure it, if we want to record it, then we must want to watch it. And as for the times when there are 2 programs on at the same time, oh well. It will probably be on again. Thx again for your help.
