I am unable to position my speakers in a perfect geometrical arrangement, thus will need to adjust the relative levels of the L/R and the rears. Is this is a standard feature of most AV amps? (possibly looking at the Denon 1802 or 2802)

I assume that most setups (whether user-defined or built-in) are recallable via the remote? And if so, is it a scrolling process, or are they individually addressable, for recall by the Pronto?

Badger,
Most, if not all, receivers have a method of adjusting
the levels. Some have individual adjustment via a
scroll list. Others want you to first set the main
L/R balance, then 'bring' the others 'in line' with
the mains.

This process is best done with a SLP meter and
a 'tuning' aid such as the Avia DVD. Since most would
only do this a few times a year, why bother with the
Pronto?

If your speakers fall outside the 'imaginary circle',
make sure the receiver you get has the capability of
adding delay time for the center and rears.

I recently upgraded my receiver, and the two most valuable features the new one has that the old one did not are:
1) 'Center' channel graphic equalizer.
2) Low level outputs for each 'main' channel, in addition
to the xx.1 for the sub.

SPL meter, sorry to get technical on your writing Old... ; )

But yes, there is definatly adjustments within a receiver or preamp to take into account loudness and Delay. You want all sounds to reach your listening area at the same 'time'...
