The RM-V302 is a universal remote, while the RM-P302 is a remote for a specific component. If you furnish the EXACT component model number I may be able to help.

I am going to make a new thread with this, but I put it here first to test it before I opened a new thread.

Here is a great link I just got from Sony, which provides manuals and codes for many of the more popular remotes. Should save a few postings, and if someone misses it we can refer them to it easily. [Link: iq.sony.com]

EDITED NOTE:
The information in the above link is no longer available. Sony, in its infinite wisdom, decided to remove this information from their site.

If you need a manual, codes, or both, go here and see if your remote is listed [Link: remotecentral.com]

If it is not listed, start a new thread, and make the subject “Need manual or codes for (Give full remote model here)

I just wanted to point out my experience with my RM-V302
I quickly programmed everything, except my Hughes DSS receiver. It seemed as though no code worked on the DSS button. (even cycling through the codes)
I eventually read in the manual about how the DSS / DVD / RCVR buttons could be assigned to other components. I then changed the DSS button to (gasp) DSS, then in code discovery, I was able to finally control my DirectTv receiver! Moral of the story, do not assume the 3 selection buttons will automatically control what the button stands for.

I've just got an SA-2000 and can't get any codes to work. Have tried the Sony designated code (014), have made sure a digital STB is specified, have reset the whole remote, all to no avail... Oh yes, and have tried the search function. I've gone through these repeatedly. Anyone out there have any suggestions?

You're really, really, really are sure the button has been configured to control cable boxes and not something else?

If so, and it still doesn't work, the remote may not have a code for that particular box.

On the sony vl700, the digital cable box codes were under SAT,and as the V302 has the CBL/SAT key set to cable from the factory, you would need to switch it to SAT.

You're right, digital cable boxes are mixed in with DSS/DVR. Frankly, since they only had a couple analog cable code numbers to start with, I don't know why they couldn't have put them there...
