Weird screen fills with various things.

All video game systems will have odd geometry problems when filling the screen. The pictures looks seomthing like this:
____
\___|

Not exaggerated, maybe a half inch or so of black space. But, black space none-the-less.

I have found a geometry menu anywhere yet, although I haven't poked around in the service menu(s).

Also, while watching anything other than 1.85:1 w/s movies, I get black bars on top+bottom. Not sure if I'm supposed to be getting those or not... but filling the screen by stretching the picture is annoying. Will a progressive-scan dvd player fix the aspect ratio?

Thanks!

I suppose it would be pointless buying a proscan player if it upconverts it to interlaced? :>

Try www.hometheaterspot.com for more info than you will ever need about your TV. They will have instructions on how to adjust your geometry.

Your TV does 1080i and 480p. 480i is upconverted to 480p and 720p is downconverted to 1080i.

Buying a prog scan DVD player has a big advantage over letting the TV upconvert to progressive. The DVD player converts to progressive using tags inbeded in the DVD's data stream and the TV does a "best guess" on the analog signal that is fed to it.
