Weird screen fills with various things.

All video game systems will have odd geometry problems when filling the screen. The pictures looks seomthing like this:

Not exaggerated, maybe a half inch or so of black space. But, black space none-the-less.

I have found a geometry menu anywhere yet, although I haven't poked around in the service menu(s).

Also, while watching anything other than 1.85:1 w/s movies, I get black bars on top+bottom. Not sure if I'm supposed to be getting those or not... but filling the screen by stretching the picture is annoying. Will a progressive-scan dvd player fix the aspect ratio?
