Here is my, or I should say my father-in-law's dilemma. He lives in a fringe area north of Orangeville, On. He has a pretty good antenna setup on a 40 foot tower with a pre-amp. Since the U.S. switchover he lost all of the American stations he used to get via analog. He recently picked up a Maxent 37" LCD flatscreen (MX37X3) which is HDTV compatible but does not have a digital tuner. It has one DVI input as well as 2 Component inputs. All of the digital boxes I have seen sold only "down convert", that is convert from a digital signal to analog. He needs to convert his RF coax from the antenna to either DVI or Component cable. Any thoughts would be most welcome. Thanks as always!

No, He should have "picked up" a different TV , lol.

Now seriously, consider using an standalone ATSC tuner or the Echostar pvr called i think DTV-PAL. They usually have at least component outputs.

Well, I was going to add that he won the TV in a charity raffle so beggars can't be choosers! lol

I will look into those options...thanks for the reply!

You can buy a Centronics tuner from Save and Play in Mississauga for around $150. It has all kinds of outputs that will solve your problem. I've got one for my projector and it works great.
50 ' tower with VHF & UHF antenna at the house
45 ' tower with a 91XG yagi with a channel master preamp at the workshop/garage and a Samsung digital receiver.
