I take it your antenna is indoors? perched in a window? how high up and which antenna are you currently using.

Can you get your antenna onto the roof of the apartment building? In my experience a bottle of whiskey gifted to the super helps here! Even if you have to run 10 storeys up a riser, a preamp will overcome this loss easily. Our ham radio club had our repeater on top of a 35 storey building using the above method and we had a ten year run before the old guy retired. Long before then our one member had moved out of the building so we had to vacate.

No its on my balcony outside,
I am pretty sure I am not allowed to put it on the roof,
If I was that would rock, I am moving within the year though.

I guess its worth a try to ask.

Hoping some ppl in Waterloo can let me know if I'm unrealistic or just incompetant.

Last weekend I put a DB8 up on my roof, with a CM pre-amp, into a new 42" LG. No splitters, etc. We live in north Waterloo near Laurel Creek Conservation Area and I used a compass (and TV Fool) to point it straight to Toronto.

The only channels I've been able to pick up are CBC and CHCH, both rock solid. CTV came in for a few seconds one night, with signal strength at only 30% if I'm lucky, which doesn't seem to be nearly enough.

Based on others' experiences, should I be able to get CTV in HD in Waterloo, or is this wishful thinking? No obstructions in the way and the antenna is about 30 ft off the ground.

Would switching to a CM 4228HD antenna or using a more expensive preamp make a significant difference? It's not like the image in pixelated, I'm not picking anything up at all. If everyone else in the area is getting CTV, I assume there's something wrong with the antenna, or my setup.

Any thoughts?

Thanks for the tip - I'm going to try to get my antenna a bit higher. No trees around.

I'm in the homerwatson/ottawa area of kitchener, and at ground level facing east,
just my sticking a set top yagi toy antenna (with an amp added inline) out on my
bbq, I get CHCH (18.1) and CW (32.1) from Grand Island without any hassle.
SunTV is trouble some for me here with this set up.
I have a CM4228 and a CM7777 amp as well.
I have played with them on my tri-pod (10ft) before the pair went to cottage.
CBC was no problem any time of the day. ABC, NBC, CBS came and
went. Never FOX.

If you want to try, search south west towards London. SunTV is broadcasting
on 19 in digital from the west side of london. Only at 7KW I think it was.
I pick it up at cottage on Lake Huron near Goderich. About 50 miles away.
I wouldn't expect to much without a larger antenna and good amp though.

I'm new to this site and new to OTA TV. I rarely watch TV and would like to use an antenna for sports only. I live in Waterloo in a house. What antenna would be best for HD/digital reception? Any suggestions would be great.

Thanks,

Any ideas out there...? I live in Kitchener (at the base of Chicopee) in a basement apartment. I face North West (window) and we cannot mount an antenna or dish. It seems like an indoor antenna is my only option. Using conventional bunny ears I get ONE channel (and not very clearly). I have an older TV (with RCA inputs only). How can I get more than just one channel? i.e., what is the best indoor antenna out there (that costs less than $95)...any other options?

Hello everybody,
I live in kitchener in a house, and I would like to know if it's possible to receive TV channels on antenna. If so, what kind of antenna?
