One4All 8811 Won't Learn From 6100 Expressvu Remote

I have a One4All 8811 remote which until recently has worked flawlessly. It's IR based and when I had an older Bell Expressvu 3100 receiver, it could learn individual button commands by pointing the expressvu remote at the universal remote and it would learn that button's function.

However, my new bell expressvu remote sends signals via UHF not IR. Although the receiver accepts both IR and RF commands, the remote control for the expressvu receiver itself does not send IR, at least Idon't think it does because when I try to teach my universal remote a specific button function, it won't learn it.

This is problematic because my new expressvu receiver is HDTV and I need to program the * button into my universal because that controls the various stretch modes while in HDTV mode.

Any helpers or suggestions would be greatly appreciated....

No you can't learn from the 6100's remote, but you can blink back the commands from the receiver itself, so you can capture with a learning remote. see your manual.

The 8811 can only learn about 25 commands for the whole remote.

If you were to set your receiver to unit code #1, the preset code in the 8811 is SAT 0775.

Edmund,

I tried the TEACH ME feature of my receiver to send the signal back to my IR device from the receiver but couldn't get it to work. I've already got it programmed with the 0775 so it does most of the things i need with the exception of the * button which is new with this new receiver/remote because it swaps between the various HDTV stretch modes.

The 8811 accepts advanced codes, these are 3 digit codes for individual functions. There are 256 available to each setup code, the known ones here.

You can also search advanced codes for your lost command, tap SET once and release. enter 0-0-0, the command won't fire 'til the third digit. move on to 001, 002 and on upto 255.

Edmund... can't thank you enough for the quick responses... so just so I understand this... I should follow the following steps to program the * button in my remote:

1. Tap Set Once (not holding it down)
2. Enter 0-0-0
3. Enter three-digit code, in this case it would be 110

I tried the above and got no response. I also just tried again the Teach Me feature of the receiver with no success... Would really love to get this working. Also, does the code 775 for the sat. receiver that's already pre-programmed acknowledge the functionality that these new receivers have? The functionality of switching between different hdtv stretch modes is a relatively new one for these new HDTV receivers.

Thanks again...

Each time you try a code, you have to Tap SET and release, try code. Tap SET and release try the next code. Once you find the command, to map it to a key, here's how:

1. press SAT
2. press and hold SET or two blinks
3. enter 9-9-4
4. tap SET for one blink
5. enter advanced code
6. pick a key.
