I sent in my $50.00 Circuit City Rebate info for my Samsung 451 back in early January, I have not yet received the rebate. So I go to this rebate website that Samsung sends you to and it says that they have received it. Processed it. and it is Pending Final Audit.

Man do I hate rebates !!!

yeah, I hate them too. half of them take twice as long as they say, and the other half just dont deliver period.

I think its an advertising scam - they figure a lot of people wont bother to send in the rebate form, or at least follow up with them to get the rebate. - or maybe Im being to negative/suspicious ?

No, I don't think you're being negative. Although it's possible I think that because I'm similarly negative...

The whole financial point of a mail-in rebate is that a certain percentage of people will never do it, so the company doesn't have to pay all of them off - but it's great marketing. Otherwise it would be easier to lower the list price or offer an instant rebate to the dealer to pass on to the customer.

The really annoying rebates are the IN-STORE rebates, which are actually being offered by the chain on a product, but you still have to mail in to some third party to claim. If it's a Future Shop mail-in rebate why don't you just lower your price instead of making customers jump through hoops?

Also, they get to use your money for the time period, earning interest.

agree, but like you said, advertise a lower price that only a few will actually pay

How do they dream this stuff up ????

Still waiting. And by the way the online rebate web site allows you to trade your rebate up for other rewards.

It makes me think of going to a carnivel.

Richnweb,

When my 2nd Verizon Cell phone arrived in the mail it had disclaimers all over it saying if I open up the box, open up the instruction book, open up the accessories that I am commited to the contract. Tha it says "New users just turn on your phone for activiation. Existing users must dial in on a land line phone for activation." never did get a good answer out of them why I needed to dial from a land line phone. All I know is they would not activate it when I called from a Cell phone.

I am still waiting on the Samsung rebate and now I have misplaced the paper work !!!

I know one thing, I refuse to buy another Samsung product before this rebate comes in.
