I have recently purchased a RM-Y165 remote from E-Bay, but the guy I bought it from is not supplying the instruction manual that tells me how to program my other components. I not only need the codes, but I need to know how to program in the codes. I have a Mitsubishi VCR and a BA-5135NP model cable box (I don't know the manufacturer). Can anyone help me with this?
Thanks!

I have a RM-Y167 and the codes for it. It came with my TV, so the instruction manual is for my TV, but it also explains how to program the remote.
On the off chance that this almost the same as your RM-Y165, here we go.
To program it: 1) Press CODE SET 2) Press VTR/DVD (FUNCTION) (or DBS/CABLE if appropriate) 3) Use the 0-9 buttons to key in the manufacturer's code number from the chart 4) Press ENTER
The codes it lists for the VCR and cable box are:
Mitsubishi VCR: 323, 324, 325, 326 Cable boxes: Hamlin/Regal: 222-226 Jerrold/G.I.: 201-208, 218 Oak: 227-229 Panasonic: 219-221 Pioneer: 214, 215 Scientific Atlanta: 209-211 Tocom: 216, 217 Zenith: 212, 213
Each code is 3 digits. Some manufacturers have more than one code. Try each code until you find the one that works.
Good luck!

At last, here's the complete code listing that I have. I have a RM-Y167 and the codes for it. It came with my TV (KV-27S45), so the instruction manual is for my TV, but it also explains how to program the remote.
Each code is 3 digits. Some manufacturers have more than one code. The manufacturer code numbers appear to be in order of likelihood, and there is some overlap between manufacturers. Try each code until you find the one that works.
There's a good chance that this remote uses the same codes as the RM-Y165 and RM-Y169.
Note that you have to assign VCR's, etc. to the VTR/DVD button and cable/DBS receivers to the DBS/CABLE button. That means you can't control both a VCR and a DVD player at the same time.
Tips
- If the remote control doesn't work, try repeating the setup procedures using the other codes listed for your equipment.
- If more than one code number is listed, try entering them one by one until you come to the correct code for your equipment.
- If you enter a new code number, the code number you previously entered at that setting is erased.
- In some rare cases, you may not be able to operate your equipment with the supplied remote control. In this case, use the equipment's own remote control unit.
- Whenever you remote the batteries, the code numbers may revert to the factory setting and must be reset.
Programming the remote for video equipment
- Press CODE SET.
- Press VTR/DVD (FUNCTION).
- Use the 0-9 buttons to key in the manufacturer's code number from the following chart.

Sorry for the garbled posts. I reposted the final (fixed) version in a new thread addressing the RM-Y167 specifically.
