Hello All
I am setting up my Pronto to control my Carrier air conditioning unit and I was wondering if it is possible to have a status window in the Pronto. My Carrier remote shows the temperature, fan speed, flap location and whether the air con is in heat or cool mode in an LCD display and I was hoping this could be duplicated on the Pronto.

Does anyone know if this is possible?

Regards

Phil

Nope - no two way feedback is possible.

Hello Jcl
I don't think two way feedback is needed here and I don't think that is how the air con remote works. I think all that is needed is for a text box that can be changed by a button. The text box would then simulate the LCD on the air con remote.
For example if I set the temperature to say 20c then at the same time as the signal is sent to the air con would it be possible to change the text in a box on the pronto to show the 20 degrees? The reason is if I set the temp using the Pronto and then come back some time later I have no way of determining the temp the air con is set to.

Regards

Phil

What you are asking to do is possible but it is tricky. What you need to do is create a setup that will allow you to keep track of the state it is in. I have done this for several components that do not have discrete on/off or discrete modes.

Read this to get an idea

you can also do a search for "+state" in the ng section.

I think it will be a little trickier as you will be switching between several temps. Certainly NOT easy but I think possible.

Agreed, it is possible but probably more trouble than it is worth. Example, if you set temp for 72 and the pronto jumps to a screen that says 72, you then need to jump to the screen to control your satellite box, for instance. Next time you jump to the temperature screen you would have to know which one to jump to - which temperature should show in the text box. You would have to have sets of pages for each component that jump to all the different temperatures you may use.

I know what I'm trying to say but my explanation is probably clear as mud but I hope you get most of what I'm saying.
