Hello All,

I recently purchased the TSU7000 along with the ultimate pronto guide.

I'm stuck and could use a little help. I just downloaded a component file for the xbox 360 remote, which has the xbox logo on it.

I have added a background to my xbox 360 page and I want the button to be (see through) and not have any white around it (transparent). For some reason I can only have on or the other. If I make it see through I can see the box around the button. If I make it transparent I can't see through the button.

I've looked through the forum and help section of the PSP X software without any luck.

If there is a better software to use please let me know.

Did you press F1 from inside prontoedit and read about transparency?

Did you read this thread as well?

FYI, to eliminate the white, you will need to use selections and masks. Not necessarily easy to do but is possible in the software. To make partially transparent, you will need to put a transparent layer underneath (not white) and then put the current image layer on top. Then, for the image layer, set the layer opacity from the layer palette (F8) to something less than 100%.

Hey Lyndel

Yes to question 1 and 2.

I am following the directions and saving it has a .png file. It seems that I'm just missing something because I'm not that familiar with the software. I can get the button semi-transparent, and see through it fine. But I can't get the box around the button to disappear. I followed the steps in the ultimate pronto guide to make it where the button only appears, but it does not work when I lower the opaque of the image.

The box disappears around the button if I select "use the color in the upper left corner" in the Pronto software, but when I select "Use image transparency," the white around the button shows again but I can see through it all.

Totally frustrating me so any help/advice will be taken graciously.

Nevermind.

I figured it out. I used the background erase tool to take out the white so that I did not have to worry about it after I decreased the opaque. That was my second time doing that. The first time I erased the white I must have messed up somehow. Sorry and thanks for the help.

Although I prefer PSP for making buttons, the newest version of Photoshop Elements (4.0) has a great new tool called the "Magic Wand" for extracting a piece of an image and assigning it to a separate layer.

From within PS CS2 I just select the background (usually White and easy to do) Then invert the selection. Next step would be to right click and choose "layer via cut". Now your background has been separated from your subject and can be trashed from the layers palett. I find this to be the quickest way to do it.
