has anyone gotten the vid7 discrete code for sony hdtv's to work?

i have a 30xs955 and the tuner, vid1 and vid5 discrete codes work fine but not the critical vid7, which is the hdmi input.

vid7 discrete code in database:
0000 0067 0000 0010 0060 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0030 0018 0030 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0030 0336

vid7 code after pasting in prontoproedit NG:
0000 0067 0000 0010 0060 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0030 0018 0030 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0030 032A

Note that the last 2 characters are changed by the editor, no matter what i paste in or manually change.

any ideas?

The code is correct. The change of the last 2 digits is irrelevant.

Ensure that you have the latest firmware and software in the remote and set a duration of .2 seconds on the IR or change the code as follows:

0000 0067 0010 0010 0060 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0030 0018 0030 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0030 032A 0060 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0030 0018 0030 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0030 032A

If even the above code does not work, your unit may not support this discrete code.

Exactly. As John pointed out in the poster's first thread, if your set does not respond to Video 7 then it simply does not support a discrete command for that function. Use a macro of Video 6 + Input.

thanks guys....the macro (vid6 + tv/vid) is exactly what i had done as a workaround strategy

and, if i interpret this correctly, lyndel's code suggests that the first 4 groups of the command are a header, then he suggests repeating the post-header part of the command a 2nd time....i'll try it.

cheers

You understood correctly. Download the Pronto Hex IR Format document by Barry Gordon from the Pronto Files Section if you want to know more and then see this post.

This thread references Sony DVD codes. However, all Sony codes once learned, have only repeating data and no one-shot data. What I did was to duplicate the whole batch of code data one time and then set the first copy as one-shot and the second copy as repeating.

These have worked for me for years. I just got an XBR and the video 7 worked too.
