The Motorola DCT6412 is their new cable box and HDTV DVR. The remote has a common On/Off toggle (like so many others...). Does anyone yet have separate discrete IR codes for On and Off?

They do not exist...There are no discretes as far as anyone knows...Why not just leave the box on? It turns itself on for recordings anyway, and it won't hurt anything to leave it powered up.

Leaving it on seems the way to go for both reasons you provided. I was not intending to have it turned on and off like the other components, given it has DVR functionality, but thought, for symmetry, I might provide a discrete Off and On button in my interface.

Thanks!

If you did not already have it, here is the discrete for jump ahead (not included on the Comcast remote).

0000 006C 0012 0002 0159 00AD 0013 00AC 0013 00AC 0013 00AC 0013 00AC 0013 00AC 0013 00AC 0013 0056 0013 0056 0013 0056 0013 0056 0013 0056 0013 0056 0013 0056 0013 00AC 0013 00AC 0013 00AC 0013 0349 0159 0056 0013 0D23

Ah, I see. I get hung up on things like that sometimes too. I feel compelled to place things purely for appearance sake. You can always make an On and Off button and just place the toggle on them if you really wanted to. Properly functional...no. Completes the appearance you want...yes. Now, if Motorola would just give me PIP.................;-)

Sorry to jump in here, but what does the "jump ahead" button do?

Thanks!

It jumps forward 30 seconds. Something the advertisers must love.

Excellent.

The remote has a "jump back", which takes advantage of the continuous recording that you get with a DVR to shift you back in 30 second increments (15 seconds? whatever...). That's a nice feature when you get distracted just at a critical point in the story line of a live broadcast. The "jump ahead" obviously doesn't work with live broadcasts (;-]), but is very convenient for jumping ads instantaneously on recorded programs.

Thanks!

Does anyone have a tsu7000 configured with the remote from this cable box yet and are you willing to post your setup?

You will need to use a slight Macro hack to get the on and off to work correctly:

On would be:

Menu
delay
Toggle Power
delay
Toggle Power

Off would be:

Menu
delay
Toggle Power

You'll need to test the delay, but 1 second is more than enough

I would really like some firmware that unlocks some of the features on the motorola dct6412. Like for instance being able to use the input ports on the front and the back. It would make life alot simpler. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks dhf

I just submitted a direct question to Motorloa support asking for discrete on and off codes. If I get anything back from them, I will post here.

Wish in one hand and crap in the other. See which one fills up faster.

The discrete codes don't exist but if by some ungodly chance they send you some functions, I'll be more than happy to use makehex to generate the Pronto IR sequences for you.

Did not do any firmware hacking, but I just got mine to allow me to rip programs off it via firewire following this guide:

Oh yeah, I am on comast as well. Apologies for being a little off topic.

I do plan to try that on/off macro, so thanks for that :)

Eric,

I believe my configuration includes complete Motorola 6412 functionality including the 30 second jump ahead.
