I have completed my interface for the 3000!!! Feel free to download it from [Link: contempt.net]

There are still areas that need to be completed (such as the listen to music guide and movies list), but most are finished and working perfectly on my setup. Keep in mind, this is an altered version of something I had for my 2000. After a great deal of sharing the remote with my girlfriend and visitors, it was agreed the buttons needed to be big and the interface not too confusing. I agreed.

Just wanted to share with this community all of the great tips I've picked up on the forums here and maybe my pcf will help others.

Yeah, it was a pain to create and cut up the images from Photoshop, but the satisfaction of my girlfriend being able to use the remote without any questions is priceless! They make the best beta testers and QA people.

Remember, this remote is *supposed* to simplify our lives. :)

Boy, you raised the bar a notch or 2. Great job. Makes my feeble attempt at programming looking sadly lacking. Thanks for sharing....I'll be stealing some of your graphics and approaches.

Couple of questions...
I see you learned the IR code every time you needed to use it. Is there a reason you didn't make a device that has all your IR codes and link to it instead of learning each time?

When I followed the macro's for the power to the VCR it seems to take me in a loop, I never found a place that actually turns the VCR on. What did I miss.

Here is another question: How were you able to label the extra hard buttons? Did you edit the XML file directly, or what?

Just curious.

Ideally, that's what it would have been. But I had problems with the IR learning functionality. Most of the IR codes and button arrangements were imported from my 2000 ccf file and then some new ones were added. Just call it sloppy coding. I should get around to fixing it. Keep in mind, what's uploaded is probably about 80% complete. There's still some codes that need to be debugged. Such as last night I found that the keypad for 9 on the dvd isn't triggering properly. Things like that.

You're absolutely right. I hadn't gotten around to testing the VCR yet, since I hardly use it. Just plain stupidity on my part.

Guess what's great about posting it here is that you guys will help me debug this thing! :)

I did not label the extra hard buttons. It's just a panel on top of the default tabs. Then I added buttons on top of that. With the hope that when the new firmware is released (with functionality to customize buttons 1 + 4, I won't have to change my interface. I also made it that in addition to pressing the 4 hardware buttons, you can just press the tabs.

Just uploaded a new version that fixes both of these errors. Thanks.
