I started following this thread earlier in the
week as I have faulty screen on my tsu6000. I
did a search on my own and found the same screen
(LFH8P4032B) at a California electronic supply
company. They sell the screen for $39.00, so
I went ahead and bought...i hope to get it soon
and will report my progress. The link to the
website is:

I just wanted to follow up my previous reply. I received the replacement screen today (shipped overnight...I'm hosting some folks for a movie tomorrow). It was well packaged with a protective screen cover.

I had desoldered the screen from the board once before, so I had no problem with the disassembly (do watch out for the contrast wheel though). Like Lyndel mentioned, the ribbon cable on the replacement was too short, so I reused the original. Everything else lined up properly...even the pins on the left side were in the right direction (on my TSU6000). Once positioned, I resoldered the screen to the board, assembled all the pieces, put the battery back in and voila...the remote booted up like new. The screen looks great and hasn't "frozen" once (this was my problem....i tried every other fix in the book, multiple firmware flashes, hyperterminal connects, screen cleanings and a zulu war dance, but nothing worked). It's been over 2 hours and it's working great. Since last weekend, the best I could do would be a couple of minutes of use before freezing. I'll keep my fingers crossed!

Many thanks to Lyndel for posting his find.

Received my screens (2 of) from hatled.com (cheers Vince !) this morning - quickly desoldered the old screen and carefully soldered the new one in place. I did notice that the screens are virtually identical except for the metal tabs that slot through the pcb were of an 'L' shape which required a part to be snipped off. This meant that there was not as much showing through the slot but was more flush, still just as easy to solder. The other which has also been mentioned was the ribbon connector being too short - easy fix - use your existing one !
I did have one problem once the unit was built together, when i tried to calibrate, touching the top left and the the bottom right, it failed on the bottom right. After a few attempts i used a pen to go right into the bottom right corner and it accepted. Phew !

All in all a reasonably easy repair, but wouldn't recommend to the non technically minded.

I must say, the colour screen on the rc9200 is an incredible improvement over the mono screen on the rc5200 and will be keeping it and selling the rc5200. Quite happy with the result as i managed to pick up the broken rc9200 for £50 ($90) and got the screen for £17 ($30)

Repair time (1.5hrs) for first, should be half this for further repairs.

Going to have a cuppa now to celebrate !!

Cheers guys.

Luis,

Good luck. The post you are responding to is almost 2 years old. I doubt you'll find any readily available online source for 3 screens. Your best bet is ebay or sending remotes to Philips.

Also, consider editing and removing your email address from the above post as search engines often look for email addresses in web forums and use to spam or to send you spam.

Requesting guidence....Unfortunately my 5 year old got a hold of my TSU6000. Not sure exactly what he did but the screen showed liquid covering about 3/4's of the screen (centered). He said he tried to clean it but who knows.... About 80% of the moisture has now evaporated there is still about 1/2 dime circle of liquid still showing. The unit turns on and shows my normal startup screen but does not respond to any touch screen commands. Side buttons still work fine so the main unit does not appear damaged. I openned the unit to see if there was any way to further dry the unit but it doesn't appear so. Also I don't seem to find sources for replacement touchscreens if needed.... :-(

Any guidence or recommendations?

Thanks in advance,
Allen

I'd pull the batteries and let it dry out for a few days. Since you've opened it up, use a hair dryer to speed the process. Just don't get it too close to the remote. Beyond that, I'm unaware of any replacement screens available for that model short of sending it back to the company for repair (and a healty bill).

For a while now, I've had a very, very small hairline
scratch on my RC9200 screen.

Tonight, I finally got the part #. The part number for
the screen is LFH8P4181A. This is an ALPS screen and
I can find no supplier on the web. However, I just found
a screen on Ebay with a part # LFH8P4032B. The screen
and cabling looks identical. For others reference, you
may see the item at the following location.

[Link: cgi.ebay.com]

From all indications, this screen will work. If not,
I'm only out $52 USD.

I've done the buy-now and am anxiously awaiting its arrival.
If it works I'll post back as most likely others will
be needing this information.

Wish me luck.

Lyndel

I know it's way down the line here but I tracked down a place that still has these sceens in stock. They are taking the P**s with the price though. They are looking for $225 each and a further $95 to ship to Ireland.
