Hmm, I believe it *is* part of the screen. As
far as I know, the normal problem is that L1,
on the back of the screen, pokes through a hole
in the plastic frame inside the remote. The hole
is fairly small, and often when the remote is
dropped and things get shoved around, L1 is either
damaged or knocked clean off the board.
That's what I thought that it's right there under the battery cover in that little hole. It's been some time since I have had my remote apart. But to me it just seems like that location from the outside does not seem to be the back side of the screen. But of course I could be mistaken.
You know what, after taking the battery pack out. And really looking at it. It does look like it is part of the screen. Ooops, my bad.
trehutch, if you want to know where exactly the l1 is located with out taking the remote apart. You'll have to take the battery cover off, and the battery pack or batteries out along with the little shelf. This hole would be right next to the + sign for the alingment of the battery pack. The l1 is right there, if it is there, It's black and square looking. The top of it is just level of the case, so my believe it's very easy for it to come lose because of that reason. If it's not there, then that is your problem. If it is there, it still may be your problem, such as one of the leads might be broken off while the other one is still holding the l1 in there.
