Hello everyone:

I recently purchased the the Pronto, and I am very happy with it. One thing I was wondering was how to clean the touchscreen without it becoming active. As you Pronto owners know, the fingerprints start to build up after a while on the touchscreen. And given that some family members like to munch on something like potato chips while watching TV, once those oily fingers touch that screen... Well, you get the idea...

Also, I created a new page for my MiniDisc player, but it looks like I created a blank page for the MD player without any buttons on it. How do I create buttons on the MD page? I must have missed something in the manual, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

I look foward to ProntoEdit being released, which leads me to my last question: I know that you use a RS232C cable to connect the Pronto to the PC, but where does the cable attach to the Pronto?

Well, that's all the questions I have right now. I also want to wish everyone a Happy Holidays.

- Mike

1) just cover the ir-emitter and wipe the screen with a dry cloth or hold down an inactive hard button or take out the batteries.

2) you have to go to learn mode on the minidisc screen to see the buttons because there are no codes preprogrammed so buttons don't show until you teach them codes. If you wish, you can use label mode to label them first and then teach them codes, but they still won'y show up in use mode until you teach them codes.

3) look for the small hole (like an earphone stero microjack) it is on the lower left of the pronto. On the same side as the backlight and contrast buttons.

Hi Mike,
Based on your description it sounds like you created a "Device" for your MD player. Pronto lets you create devices with or without the standard (RC-5/6) IR codes. If you created the device without the standard codes, Pronto will only display buttons for which it has learned IR codes from the OEM remote. Hence, until you teach Pronto the new codes, no buttons will be displayed.

Hope this helps.

Mike,
I suggest that if you want to create a page with buttons but aren't ready to teach codes, just teach a "delay" which while not executing any code, will cause the button to display.

Clay,
I am trying to Email back to you but have gotten an error message from your server saying that it won't accept the reply.
