i have read this and tried everythign it says but am still having problems.

i have had my ds1000 (and ts1000) for about 3 or 4 years i think and it has been fine up until last week, when when i noticed that the low battry indicator was flashign on the pronto. now when i put the pronto on the dock it charges for about 5-10 minutes and then the green light on the dock goes out and it stops charging...but if i pick up the pronto and then put it back on the dock it continues charging for another few minutes.

it is REALLY annoying. did my dock finally go bad? i really dont want to have to buy a new one.

any suggestions?

Try removing the battery for a few minutes. It's been a long time since I had a 1000, but I seem to remember that once the low batt light starts flashing it's SOMETIMES necessary to remove the battery before recharging. I think the remote needs this to "reset" what it thinks constitutes a full charge.

Sometimes it's necessary to repeat this several times. Once it works it should be good for quite a long time.

Jim, you are right, except that it is

it's always necessary to remove the battery after recharging

Anthony,

It's nice to know that my memory still works - some days. ;-} I am a little confused however. You said "after recharging". You mean after one of those 5 to 10 minute sessions where it doesn't fully recharge?

Again I'm going on memory here, but I seem to remember that if I let the charge bleed down and it started flashing, sometimes it would still recharge fully and sometimes it wouldn't. If it didn't, removing the battery was necessary. When putting the battery back in, follow Bruce's suggestions in the initial post of this thread.

Hi Jim, I did not read bdee1's post, just your answer.

that the light goes on for 5-10 minutes does not mean anything and is normal even if it does not do anything the light comes on while it is testing the battery.

So if the remote works, then the battery is full and the low battery is wrong and that happens (my assumption) because the Pronto stops testing the battery. That is why you need to charge it first and then remove the batter (to start the testing again).

If the Pronto does not work, then the battery is probably dead. I have yet to see (or hear) of a bad charger that glows.

Thanks Anthony,

I remember for sure that when I initially got my 1000 it would charge (actually, as you say, test) for 5 to 10 minutes and then shut off. It obviously wasn't fully charged. After R&Ring the battery a few times, it finally charged fully.

I THINK I remember this same thing occuring occasionally after the initial installation IF the low battery light came on. The same procedure cured the problem. FWIW the remote and it's original battery are still being used by my daughter. It's now over 4 years old.
