I think more screen area would probably actually result in LESS memory being used. Assuming you're going to use the same graphics and just fit more buttons on each page, you're using ZERO extra memory for graphics and, if you use less pages, you're using a bit less memory for layout.

What will be the RC3200 ($329.99)??? Would that be an enhanced version of the RC5000?
I'm curious to know!

An "enhanced" version for $329.99???

The RC5000i lists for quite a bit more than that now.

You are right Greg, my mistake. I had in mind the TSU2000... and even that would suggest a MSRP of $399.99...
I'm realy curious since the quote states that "...The company also planned to showcase its lineup of next generation touchscreen learning remotes...". So we can only presumed that this remote would have a touchscreen and learning capability. Too bad there was no picture available. ;-)

Hmm, $1249. That's $50 less than I figured. :-)

It was my impression that these new units would be on the market right after CEDIA, not in 2002. This is what local dealers are indicating. I wonder if this is accurate?

Anthony: That sounds reasonable, since 1) There is no pic. Why give us a pic we've already seen. 2) The pricing would be more competetive with the Pronto TSU200, and 3) See 1 & 2.

Normally, more screen area means more memory being used, because each pixel has a dedicated portion of memory, whether it is used or not.

That isn't how CCF files work at all.

The RC3200 will likely match up with a Philips product I'll find out [more] about tomorrow.

Anthony,

I guess will have to see what Daniel can find out today.
How about we start some guessing? My bet is that the RC3200 will be the equivalent to the TSU2000 (no charging docking station included) with similar functionnality and memory.
What do you think folks?

Martin, I had read your earlier post fast, and when Greg said RC5000i I mistakenly thought you compared the 3200 to the i and not to the original RC5000. My equivalence table was
RC3200 - TS-1000 - RU890 - RC5000
RC5200 - TSU2000 - RU940 - RC5000i
RC9200 - TSU6000 - RU970 - RC5000 Pro?

Daniel: Do you know if Marantz will keep the more Pronto like line? or is the "200" going to replace the others.
