How can I learn the surround codes? I have everything else working that I need except these. Has anyone been able to do this?

This is a known problem, they are almost impossible to learn. Do a search on this forum as well as the general universal and Pronto forums for more info.

Actually, there have been threads in the Pronto forum where people have discussed how there were able to get the DSP stuff learned, but it's very tricky.

You may have to settle for doing everything BUT the surround stuff on the 15-1994, and keep the Sony remote around just for when you need to adjust the surround.

Rob is right. As an owner of the DB-930, and having fiddled with other receivers in the lineup, plus a bunch of remotes, I'm sorry to report that about the only thing the RS-1994 cannot do is learn the Sony surround functions. ...Mike

Actually, the trick for a 15-1994 is to get access to a crappy 1-way Sony remote. I walked into a electronic shop and learned the soundfield codes from a DE635 remote. I got a "merchandise slip" from security to prove the 15-1994 was mine. (AS IF Fry's carried Radio Shack stuff - but they were nice enough to let me do it.)

I got AFD, stereo, soundfield up, soundfield down, EQ on a DB940.

On a V777ES soundfield up/soundfield down commands became up/down of the 5 user selected DSP's rather than the entire list. Still not bad.

Give it try!

That's very interesting, I need to see what the actual codes are that the 1-way Sony remotes use and see if there are equivelent OFA codes.

@Rob

Anything new? I need the codes badly, because I'm only able to control power, volume and the tuner stuff on my DB840.

I built the JP1 box. I can program the cursor arrows to cycle thru the DSPs, plus bass boost, eq, AFD, and also center and rear levels. I have a DB830.

re: the postings where some of you were able to get the Sony DSP's to work w/ the 15-1994...

I was wondering if you could use the "beep-back" function to find the advanced codes that you programmed...

I have the 15-1994 and a Sony DE845. Got a great deal on it, the only drawback is that it was minus the LCD remote (hence my dilemma).

Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.
