I am trying to use my URC-9910 as a replacement for a lost remote for a JVC VCR HR-S2901U remote. All I really need is the SP/EP button, which is the only way to activate manual tracking.

I found the discrete hex codes for this key, but I'm not sure if there is any way to program the remote short of using a JP-1 cable.

Any possibility? Any other options?

Thanks.

You don't mention which setup code you're using nor tell us what hex codes you found, so I'll assume that you're using Video 0067 on the VCR device button, and that your VCR uses typical JVC codes. Decide which button you want to put the SP/SP function on. I'll call that button "A".

1. Press VCR
2. Press and hold Set until 2 blinks
3. Enter 994
4. Press Set briefly
5. Enter 153 (this is the function code for toggle SP/EP)
6. Press A
Should get 2 blinks if the procedure was done correctly. Now pressing button A should toggle SP/EP.

If you want to make this function a "shifted" button, precede step 6 with a brief press of Set. Then to use the shifted button, press Set and then button A.

NEVERMIND -

I found a URC-6131nB00, and your method worked like a charm. I'm not sure why it did not work with the 9910, but this is fine.

Thanks so much for the help

(old message)

Thanks so much for your reply. I am having some trouble with your method.

Indeed, I am using setup code 0067 for my HR-S2901U. The hex codes I found here:
[Link: remotecentral.com]

This is the remote I am using:
URC-9910B01

When I hold down "set", I don't get blinks, I get, "CODE SET" in the display. With the arrows, I can cycle through to "MAN SRCH," "IR LEARN," "IR DELETE," "VOL LOCK," "VOL UNLOCK," "KEY MACRO," "MODE MAP," "KEYMOVER," "CLOCK SET," "FAV CHAN," "THEATER," "OPS RESET," "UPGRADE ."

I can't find an opportunity to enter '994,' so, either I'm doing it incorrectly (likely) or my 9910 is unable to do what I need it to.

Thanks for the help with this - if this works, it will save me such a hassle.

On remotes with an LCD display, instead of entering 994, you should scroll down and select KEYMOVR

I forget what further differences there are, but there are several other threads here at RC that give detailed instructions for using the KEYMOVR feature. Simply do a forum search for KEYMOVR .

Sorry, I should have noticed that the 9910 is a LCD model.
