I just bought the new 15-100, does anyone have any idea as to the learning capabilities? The 15-1994 I think was limited to 26 learns, I'm hoping this new remote is much better! So far I like it and has programmed and learned all I needed with the exception of the Left arrow key for our off brand DVD remote. I tried to learn it on another key then move it with Key Mover but just like the older remotes it will not move learned keys. It seems also the Macro's run slower which gives more time to turn on and switch those slow acting TV's out there!

So far I think I have found a new favorite remote to program. I have set up many other Radio Shack, AFO and the Sony's 600 for a bunch of friends and what not but now I think this new Radio Shack beats them all!

Things I like about the 15-100 are the Back lit buttons, learning, macros (would have like to see 4 M buttons but can live with 3) DVR buttons, 8 devices, look, feel and button placement is much like the 15-1994 that I still have and have always loved.

Good job Radio Shack, it's nice to see they are back making good remotes!

Yep, it's the new 1994, with more than triple the learning memory and double the macro memory. Some signals take more memory than others, so YMMV. As you've discovered, you can't learn anything to the left arrow. Besides that, it's a great remote. Have you customized the device names yet? That's another nice feature. The guided setup isn't bad either. You may not need to do as much learning since it has a huge number of device codes.

When you say it has twice the Macro ability what do you mean? Is it that you’re not limited to 16 commands? Does anyone know how many times you can learn?

You're still limited to 15 commands per macro, but have twice the macro/key move memory. If your 1994 held 26 learns, then it's safe to say the 15-100 would probably do over 90, depending on the complexity of the signals, since it has precisely 3.5 times the learning memory. I don't think there's a practical limit on the number of times you can learn, if that's what you're asking.

I got started with an 1994....still have it, but after storage the finish got very sticky for some reason....

Anyway, like the idea of a powerful inexpensive learner, but this one has a cheap look to.........

Wish they would spend a little less time making them so ugly!!

You think the 15-1994 and 15-100 are ugly? The 15-1994 is a classic and I like the look of the new 15-100.

Unfortunately, the 15-100 was still-born for most of us because it needs a tricky hardware mod for it to be programmable using JP1, and once you've used JP1 you can never go back.

Amazing I never remembered posted in this thread, and here I am again checking out the 15-100.

I must have been misunderstood.....I really like the looks of the 15-1994 and 15-2116......the 15-100 is the one I think is ugly, in comparison the the older remotes like the 1994/2116.

In that case I agree with you. The 15-1994 design is a classic and they should consider re-using it again, like they did for the 15-2116.
