An update. Great news!! I have now put the Power On code onto the 0 button onthe Tuner/Amp Device using Key Magic. I am now able to use the remote on my setup and I am very grateful for your guidance in helping me achieve this. I am sure that the Kameleon setup can be improved as the current one is a bit cumbersome; namely that I have to use the TV's AV button to move from TV to Sky which is on AV5. I would like to be able to create a couple of Macro's to switch on TV, Home Cinema through to Sky and the reverse for off, but I guess I should learn to walk first!!

Regards

Bill

Sorry to hear that your Denon doesn't support the Power toggle, let's program the missing "Power On".

You can indeed program "Power On" on a spare key in Audio mode (just press several keys to see which one doesn't have a function you need and choose the key you prefer) or, if you prefer, you can program the "shifted mode" of the Power key.

Both are explained in the manual, because I would prefer the 'shifted solution' and this is a bit more complex, I 'll give an example how to program the shifted mode of the Kameleon Power key.

Default setting for the Power key is "Power Off", so we can program "Power On" on the 'shifted mode'. The Kameleon is using the "Magic" (aka 'Hat') as the shift key.

So "Power" gives the "Power Off"
Magic (short press) + "Power" = the shifted mode we want to program

If you program a key that already had a function by default, the original function will be copied to the shifted mode. E.g. if you prefer to have the "Power On" function on the "Power" key and "Off" on the shifted mode, you only need to program the "Power On" function on the "Power" key, the Kameleon automaticly copies the "Power Off" function to the shifted mode.

1) program "Power On" in the shifted mode:

- press and hold down [Magic] till rabit pops up
- select the [Key Magic] option
- press [Audio]
- press [Magic] once and let go
- enter [67517] (= function code for "Power On")
- press [Magic] ; press [Power]

This programming still allows you to "Power Off" by pressing "Power", if you press [magic] (short, then release) + [Power], you can "Power On" your Denon.

Or if you prefer solution 2:

2) Program "Power On" on Power & copy "Power Off" to the shifted mode:

- press and hold down [Magic] till rabit pops up
- select the [Key Magic] option
- press [Audio]
- press [Magic] once and let go
- enter [67517] (= function code for "Power On")
- press [Power]
- The Kameleon will now automaticly copy the default "Power Off" setting to the shifted mode.

This programming gives you "Power On" by pressing "Power", if you press [magic] + [Power], you will "Power Off" your Denon.

If you don't like this suggestion of programming the shifted Power mode, just pick another key and follow the "Key Magic" instructions from the manual.

Sorry that I took so long to reply, but my Router has had to be replaced and I have been out of action, for a couple of days. As I said in my reply, I have used Key Magic to put Power On, onto the 0 button. At the moment that is working fine and my Wife has picked it up easily, which is a good reason for not changing it!

I am very grateful for your patient and constructive guidance and you are a credit to this forum.

My next task is to macro Power off for my 3 pieces of equipment.

Regards

Bill

Hello,

someone there, who can help me? I have just buyed a Kameleon 6.1 URC 8206. Learning by IR-signal workes fine, but only enough space for one device. I can not believe that only about 30 buttons are IR-programable by an universal remote device with over 100 buttons. Can I extend the memory? Otherwise, which are the device codes for my system:

TV: Tevion MD 30150
SAT: Nokia Dbox2
DVD: Dreambox 7025 (because of timeshift, it should programmed as a DVD device)
Sound System: Logitech 5400 Soundsystem
Tuner: Technics ST-GT 650 RDS-Tuner

Thanks.

I believe the 8206 has double the learning memory of the typical older OneForAll learning remote (in contrast to the 8820 and related models that have tripple the older amount).

The number of buttons you can learn depends on the IR protocol of the signals you are learning and on how well you do the process of learning (it is possible to get a dirty learn of a signal that works but takes two or even more times the space of a good learn).

Fitting just 30 buttons of learned signals in an 8206 with decent quality learns is possible with some really difficult IR protocols, but it isn't likely. If you aren't doing something wrong in the process I would expect you to get more.

But you still shouldn't have near enough capacity to program all those devices by learning.

If you can't find the right setup codes, maybe you need a JP1.2 cable to program the remote well (using that to analyse learned signals and respecify them as upgrades, you would eliminate all your capacity issues).

I don't recall whether the 8206 is one of the models for which you can create .wav files to take partial advantage of the JP1 software without needing to buy the cable.

You cannot change the amount of memory in your 8206. With a JP1.2 cable (and maybe via .wav file instead) you can make better use of the memory it has.

Hello johnsfine,

perhaps I could learn the 8206 about 50 IR-commands, but this is enough only for 3 devices. I'm almost sure that the apacity to program IR-commands is full because if I delete one (or two) IR-command, the 8206 is able to learn another. I think I will give back the 8206. Thx.

hi i just bought a URC 6133 a few days ago and i got it to work with everything except a rca shelf system, i tried all the codes in the manual and also searched but could not make it work. Is there any site or way to find the right code for it?
And by any chance do you know how i can turn off the sensor so it doesn't turn on all the time. Can you please email me if you can help me [email protected]

@Let Me Smile:

Wouldn't be surprised if you already/finaly contacted customer support und your URC-8206 works like a charm, however, in case you haven't contacted support yet:

First make sure you clean up the memory from your learnings:

1) Press "Magic" for the setup screen
2) Select "Other"
3) Key in "980"

Now for the device setup:

"TV: Tevion MD 30150":
Download TV code 1248

"SAT: Nokia Dbox2":
Setup SAT code 1114 (or if you have downloaded the Nokia package, SAT 1127 will also work perfectly)

"DVD: Dreambox 7025 (because of timeshift, it should programmed as a DVD device)":
Because the Dream MultimediaTV Dreambox DM-7025S is a SAT/PVR, it is a SAT/PVR and not a DVD. Please setup SAT code 1237 (in case you use a DVB-T or DVB-C module for your Dreambox, it's still the same setup code).

In the first SAT screen you 'll see the SAT functions, pressing the scroll key brings up the PVR functions (in the instruction book you will find more details). In case you want to use the DVD device key because you use SAT for the D-BOXII, please make sure you use "Device Change" to change "DVD" into "SAT".

"Sound System: Logitech 5400 Soundsystem":
Not 100% sure what the right setup code is, but in general the Logitech Z-series (think you have the Z-5400, haven't you?) works with AMP 1408 (needs to be downloaded). Please also see Technics below.

Tuner: Technics ST-GT 650 RDS-Tuner:
Setup tuner code 1309

(Hint: first setup 1309 for the Technics Tuner, because this Tuner doesn't use the function keys you want to use for your Speaker System, use the learning feature for adding the functions of the Logitech to the Technics code).

@Dejan:

Sorry, never heard of a URC-6133. What is the brand of this remote and where (country) have you bought this remote?

Many RCA shelf systems that are sold in the US will work with Tuner/Audio code 1254 on a One For All or Radioshack remote.

Do you have a modelnumber of your RCA?

Thanks for your help code 1175 worked perfectly for my Thomson Sky hd box. My kameleon handset lost its settings - no reason - working before I went to work. I was first home went to use box and it was not communicating.

I have had 2 kamelon remotes and they are great.
