Guys:
I was speaking from the perspective of someone wanting a simple tool for controlling a bunch of equipment, not someone making a career out of learning all the hidden tricks of a remote. Clearly you fall into the second category, and I am glad to benefit from that.
Maybe I'll get into JP1 one day, but for now I just want to enjoy some movies!!

The point that many people miss about JP1 is that, while it does open up lots of possibilities for the programmer types to make a hobby out of it, by far the vast majority of the 10,000 members of the JP1 group have used it simply to program their remotes to work their gear, that's it.
