"I followed the instructions you described to test it out (after making sure I could no longer program a code into my C7), and had no problem
assigning an advanced code to a non-shifted button, after clearing out the key with the shifted EFC."

Cool! Well that settles that issue...

I've got to try that "advanced code" of one device to another sequence again. Yes, I actually did try that one :) I'll update the FAQ if I can't do it.

David B.:

"Back in the old days, "boiling down" meant reduce or condense."

Ever hear of that other expression about openning a can of worms?

"Ok, that makes less sense. I don't mind if you prefer a different notation to the one I described, but I feel I should point out that your version won't work."

I just tried it again and it DOES work.

[device2] [SETUP**] 994 [device1] [SETUP] ### [key1]

Either way...

Yeah, you're right. Your notation does work, and I think the reason it
didn't work for me when I tried it the last time, was because I was
starting off with the first device listed, as my source device, the
second as my target. I must have immediately thought to do that
because that's intuitive to me, and the way the notation is described
is counter-intuitive to me. But as you say, either way will work.
