Hi,

The extended code table for my Sony receiver (type 0158) has the following cryptic section:

AUDIO AMP/TUNER. Uses with:
CD PLAYER................CDs..................CD 000
Play ....................Cassettes...........VCR 559
EXE 222..................Cassettes...........VCR 562
GRAPHIC EQUALIZER........Misc Audio...........CD 010
SURROUND AMP.............Misc Audio...........CD 159
DSP......................Misc Audio...........CD 576

You can see the full table at:

[Link: starbase314.com]

What is this section for? It looks like somehow the codes could be used to access the DSP, etc. but I'll be damned if I can figure out how. I can't figure out how to select sound fields on my Sony 925 from the Cinema 6 remote and this may be the key. (And maybe not)

You are probably not going to find any advanced code to allow selection of sound fields. I've looked at every code for device 0158 and 0159 and the only code that comes close is one that turns on and off surround mode. I just used the learn keys to put my favorite sound field one. Even though there are 4 L keys, you can have 8 different choices by adding SETUP before the key selection.

The section listed above that confuses you is just telling you that you might find codes that work with your receiver by (at least temporarily) assigning the device listed first with the code next to it. If you find that some of the keys in those devices work for your receiver then use the "setup 9 9 4 devicewhereitis keyyouwant devicewhereyouwantit keyyouwantiton" remaping sequence. After you get the keys mapped to your receiver device then you can set the VCR, CD< or whatever back to what you want it to be for your setup.

Dave,

Just to see if I understand the table...the remote takes four digit device codes. So I reasoned they left out the leading zero. So if I wanted to check out DSP functions I should set the CD button to 0576.

Since my CD button was already used I changed my CBL/SAT key to a CD key using the MAGIC(**) 992 function. When I tried to set the 0576 device code to the key I get a single long blink which I believe means the code was not correct. Usually I would get a double blink.

Am I reading this incorrectly?

Dale,

Yes, a long blink means that whatever you tried to do was rejected. You may need to change the CBL/SAT device to a CD (audio) device before it will accept a CD code. I get confused with the key sequence and often have to try more than once. Try SETUP*__**9*9*2**CD*CBL/SAT**.

You're on the right track.

Dale,

You are correct -- those listings at the front of the extended code table(s) from One for All are a cross-reference to other related devices which might be used in conjunction with the unit in question. The three digit numbers just need a leading zero to make them C7 set up codes.

The bad news is the cross-reference is relative to One for All's global database of codes, not the specific subset that was selected for the ROM library in a Cinema 7. So my guess is that 0576 isn't included in the C7, since the C7 doesn't offer any pre-programmed buttons for DSP functions.

But there is one other slight possibility: Some Sony devices use a similar code, listed by One for All as 0010, which may be in the C7. Try that. If it works, order the extended code tables from One for All for both 0010 and 0576 and try them ALL with the 0010 code in your C7. You never know, it may just work!
