Thanks rhm5757.

I now have the JP-1 cable and have been trying to program the RS2116 with limited success using device code rcvr/1058 and the hex$ not EFC of device 48 codes in AV1. What works as of today:

* on screen on/off (but not the main menu)
* input select devices (DVD, Tape...)
* volume, mute
* power on/off

Device 144 codes looks good but I don't see what code number to use to get them.

Are you suggesting that I use device code 0159 on "audio" and 0243 on "aux" for example?

Please tell me more if you can.

Thanks,

Hary

If 1058 works, the receiver is already in AV1
mode. The problem is that the 1058 code won't
take advanced codes. You have to use 0158, which
isn't in the 2116.

Has Radio Shack made code 0158 available for download via modem by calling their toll-free support number??

since 0158 is an old standard device setup code I'm sure it's available via modem download if you have a remote with modem capability.

You seem to have gotten the device 16 codes to work. You need device 144 to get the Main Menu and most of the sound field codes, you will need KM to program a device 144 code since no built in code supports device 144. You should use KM to build a whole new upgrade using the Sony Combo protocol anyway.

KM 7 is now the official release. I just hope you have Excel. If you don't, I might have some time to make one for you so you can get device 144. Actually, I could put upgrades with no keys mapped on my website for certain devices not covered by built in codes that will work on any remote. That way someone without Excel but with a JP1 interface could just use advanced codes to get those working.

I do have XL but I'm still new in JP-1 programming, so I'm not sure I'll be able to do it in a snap!

I'll try your method.
