URC 7070 Upgrade Problem

Hi,

I sent my URC 7070 in to have the code for Tivo and my DVD added. They did that fine, but now the unit won't accept the code for my Sony DSS (639). I made sure the device key was still mapped to SAT, and nothing. The unit doesn't acknowledge 639 with it's normal 2 blinks.

Has this happened to anyone else? What's the solution.

Thanks,

Bill

Try remapping the TV device back to a TV device. It may have gotten confluxed at the upgrade shop.

No, I've never had it happen to me. I just like to take guesses on what might help.

Good luck,

Dave

Bill,

When you sent it in for upgrade, did you include a list of your existing device set-ups with it?

The reason I ask is that if a new device appears on the market (or shows a sudden increase in popularity) after chip in the remote was manufactured, One for All will sometimes try to anticipate needs by pre-loading the upgrade area at the factory.

The only gotcha is that should you send the unit back for a subsequent upgrade, if they don't know you are actually using one of the factory pre-loaded upgrades they may just overwrite it with your new codes.

I don't know if this is the case with your 7070 or not, but if all else fails try sending your remote back to One for All with a note attached asking them to make sure that you still have S639 as well as your TiVO and DVD codes.

I did include a list when I sent my remote in, but it was apparently overlooked. I was able to get through by phone to Universal and they told me just what your post says. That the code 639 is not a standard code, but an upgrade from the factory before the remote was sent to retail, therefore when they added the additional upgrade, they needed to make sure that 639 was added again and for whatever reason it wasn't. I am trying to be as clear as possible when I return the remote the second time, and I'm confident with my letter, and the notes the CSR put on my retrn tag that everything will work out.

I will say this about them, they upgraded and returned my remote very quickly. Just one week from the day I shipped it, I had it back. That part was great. I was a little disappointed about the missing code, but everyone makes mistakes.

Thanks for the help!!

Bill
