Is there a way to program the up/down arrows and OK hard buttons on the Q50 remote so that they can be used to navigate amongst the soft buttons on the screen? I have a list of options on my main screen... Watch Movies, Listen to Music, Play Games, etc. Rather than having to tap the screen, I would rather just use the arrow keys to highlight the correct button and press OK. How do I set this up?
Thanks,
AramB

I don't think you can do that. It's a dedicated touch screen.

Well, there is a way you could mimick this effect, but it would be a very tedious process.
I guess you could design a bunch of pages that look almost like each other except that a different button is "highlighted" per page. You could link a "Next page" action to the up and down arrows and have the OK button execute the command of the button that's highlighted on the screen. Then with each page, you'd have to have the OK button execute a different command. I hope this makes sense.
Like I said, not easy, but possible. Good luck. :-)

Good luck. :-) i do it and its great!! take a look at this link [Link: remotecentral.com]thats what i got my inspiration from, mine is a bit more involved, but once you get the hang of how to create / change to your desired effect, its actually fairly quick to change. if you want my version of the file, or if you have more questions, please let me know . .

So just to be clear, you're using the cursor keys to navigate to different pages that make it look like you're highlighting different on-screen buttons?

That's right - the file that Motech suggested you download is the one I designed. I also took the time to place transparent buttons over top of the non-highlighted portions so there was more flexiblity in the interface. If you use the cursor keys to highlight a selected activity, you can touch the screen to activate that button press or use the OK button - your preference. Cheers, D

Is there any advantage to doing that? It seems like it would be pretty inflexible, in that you can't truly navigate on the fly. Unless maybe you just have four options, one for each "direction."

hey guys . . i put my file up on a site, its basically based on drews . . [Link: idisk.mac.com]run the emulator in the software, and just use the menu keys to get around. the first page is to choose your location, once on the selection you want, you can either press RIGHT or SELECT and either will put you to the next selection . .the activities page for that location the next page looks similar to the first page, you move around with the direction pad . . if you press LEFT at any time, it takes you back to the locations page. if you press RIGHT or SELECT at any time, it chooses the activity . . its still a work in progress, i havnt given this theme to any of my clients , its jsut to play with at home, its my file that i constantly change and test things with so its in no way finalized . . hope drew doesnt mind, all credit goes to him on this. (though i would like a slightly higher res selection bar : )

guifx.com they have a ton of free logo's, and they make a free application that lets you choose a button, and add your logos to them (in batch mode) over time whatever logos they didnt have i just searched google images for good quality images of logos i needed and put them in the guifx co pilot software and made more logos. they also have xm logos which is good for directv users .. [Link: guifx.com][Link: guifx.com](they also told me that they are working on nevo themes that we can purchase in the future, no guarantee on it from them though, but they said maybe within 6 months. . )

Cheers, D I just wanted to thank you. That file gave me all kinds of ideas when I first started programming these remotes. John

If more of us share our configurations and post them here on Remote Central - the more popular the Nevo Remotes can become because in reality - its not the remote our customers or homeowners use but the interface we build for them to use their entertainment system. The better the interface, the better the user experience, and the more referrals the integrator receives :)
