just for giggles load the upgrade again
Ed will be known as the Tiger Woods of the integration business, followed closely with the renaming of his company to "Hotties A/V". The tag line will be "We like big racks and tight holes"...

mossman,
go back through your dealer. I was able to get mine replaced with his assistance. New one works fine. How about you John Rosati? Are you still having problems?

Hi Chris,

Mine fails rarely now. Maybe it was grease from the hand that produced sufficient insulation to cause the contacts to fail?

I've switched the wireless off, which has given me extended life. However, a colleague of mine, this very morning, said he has a total charging failure and the unit has to go back. I’ll post a “what happed next” when it’s happened!

But I still haven't taken that great upgrade leap which, I’m assured in this forum, will extend the life further. But as I’m not making any configuration changes currently -I'm awaiting the new Sky HD receiver (May?) - I should have the time.

But wait, she’s calling, the grass needs cutting. Ah so that’s wear the time goes!

John,
Yeah, I just got in from my yardwork myself. Let me know how things go, I am very interested. I don't think it is oil from your fingerprints though. That was actually my first thought too so I cleaned both sets of contacts (remote & cradle) thoroughly without improvemtn at the time. Did your friend have any problems getting Nevo to replace the unit?

Chris,

My colleague had his Nevo replaced earlier this as was promised and he's more than delighted especially as his screen had, what looked like a watermark over it.

The other snippet of info is that v1.2 is considered flaky by some people, here in the UK and one company’s devices have been rolled back to v1.1. I don’t know accurate this is but it has certainly caused me to wait a while before attempting the upgrade.

I never noticed a correlation. As far as I recall I had the charging issue intermittently since I had it. I could be mistaken though.

I have just gotten my Nevo 1 month ago and it has caused nothing but problems. The nevo does not hold a charge for more than 3 hours and tends to freeze at times. But now I had it on the cradle for 1 week without using it and it is dead.Their is no backlight and I could barely read the message that shows the windows Ce tried to set it up for daylight savings time.Unfortunatley iit is stuck on that page and dark.None of the buttons work and I have tried to reset it and nothing. It looks like I will be sending this NEvo back because it is a piece of garbage.Any ideas how to unfreeze ths remote in the mean time would be appreciated .Thank you in advance.

If the freeze is related to your battery, try charging it for a few hours connected to your computer's USB. Once you get a ful charge, try re-downloading your software back into the Nevo.

Worth a shot....

Michael,

As with anything, if you are having technical difficulties, return it for another one; that's why they have warrantees.

Secondly, the battery might last only three hours if you have WiFi enabled, but did not bother turning on the "Power Save Mode" (which is not turned on by default). With the power save mode turned on, even with WiFi activity, I now get about 8 hours worth of usage (typically). If you have WiFi turned off (you have to turn it off in the "NevoSL system settings" window and are using it like a standard IR remote, then the NevoSL should easily last you a week off the cradle. It's all about which features you enable or disable. Be careful that even though you might only be using the NevoSL for IR control, if you leave the WiFi radio turned on, then you will be sucking battery power away for no reason at all.

Thirdly, depending on how you setup the punch-throughs (they call them "inheritance"), if you didn't do this right, then you might experience some of the buttons not working correctly since the punch-throughs might have been incorrectly set.

Other than that, I've sold more than a dozen of these and I haven't had any issues as of yet. Once you get your issues resolved with your current unit, I think you'll like the platform.
