Hi everyone. I am hoping someone here can help me with my problem. I recently purchased the Marantz SR8200 A/V receiver which came with the RC3200 remote control. The remote shipped with firmware version 1.1.2. When I first trained the remote, it was able to learn IR commands with ease. I have a SONY DVP-NS700P DVD player, and a SONY KV-36XBR250 TV. Again, initially, the Marantz remote learned the IR commands without a hitch. I then brought the remote to the Cambridge Soundworks that I bought the receiver at because I wanted them to download their template with customized TiVo menus into my remote. The salesperson upgraded the firmware to 1.1.4, and downloaded his template into my remote. I then went home and I tried re-learning commands, but the remote no longer learns. The remote just sits in learning mode when I press the button on the remote I want to learn from. I have tried so many things:

1. The Marantz remote properly times out if I don't do anything and exits learn mode.
2. I have reset the remote and restored it to factory settings. However, the symptom still exists.
3. I have reinstalled the firmware countless times.
4. While holding the button down on the remote to learn from,I have moved the remote around all over the place to see if it had something to do with the IR transmission.
5. I have tried other buttons and remotes to learn from.

Nothing is working! Has anyone encountered this problem? The only thing I can think of is the firmware. I need to find firmware 1.1.2. Well, if anyone has suggestions, I would love to hear from you. Thanks!

I'd take the RC3200 and one of the other remotes back to the store that did the frimware upgrade and have them fix it..

I really can't tell you anything other then that. Something went wrong as never read anything like this before.

#2 says you reset the remote, have you tryed learning the codes to a completely new ncf file? But even that aside, this sounds like it is something internal to the remote, which would mean the firmware.

Ok, thanks. Yea, it is a strange problem. I just brought the remote back to the store, and they said they would spend some time with it and give me a new one if they can't fix it. I'll let you know how it goes.

I have almost the same problem with a Pronto NEO. The original firmware it had when I bought it would learn the IR codes from General Instruments digital cable box without much hassle (sometimes had to try twice to learn them, and it wouldn't learn one button for some reason). I then upgraded the NEO to the latest firmware (downloaded from remotecentral), and now it won't learn any of the buttons anymore on that particular remote. Still learns all my other remotes fine.

Weirdness.

Well, Cambridge gave me a new remote, and it is learning fine. I haven't upgraded the firmware, 'cause at this point I am not willing to risk it!

I have the same issue. Does anyone know where a copy of the original firmware may be?
