I bought a Neo a few days ago, and originally had the problem of not being able to d/l to the device. I fixed this by moving from a Win 2000 machine to a win 98 machine.

I have to say that this device is great, and very versatile.

I now have a few other problems that I'm looking for any help on:

1. I have a X10 IR543, and have downloaded and installed both posted X10 .ncf's. Neither works what-so-ever. I have had the IR reciever for 6 months, and until now have never had any remote for it. Is it more likely that there is a problem with the IR port on the reciever, or the .ncf's don't work properly? Is there a cheap way of testing the IR port (I'm not looking to spend $50 on the X10 universal remote)?

2. I have a Denon AVR-1700 (receiver) and a DCM-360 (CD player). This remote will accemp the power signal from the rec. remote, but that is all. All of the other buttons from both the remotes fail. I know no one has posted .ncf's for eith of these two devices, so I have two options: a)convert Pronto hex codes to NEO codes (I've gotten good with NEOedit, but I can't figure out NEOhacker for the life of me, and I don't know how to extract the hex codes from the posted pronto .ccf's, anyway) OR b)Try another remote as a conduit between the two. (I have a friend with a MS/H-K universal remote which I know works with both denon devices. I'm hoping it works with the NEO)

I have alot of dead time at work, which could be used to convert the hex codes, but I have no idea how to do it. I can't really bring in four remotes to work and do the "conduit" approach, so I'd prefer option a.

If someone could give me a link for detailed instructions or walk me through this, I'd be forever in your debt!

3. This is a shot in the dark, but I'm looking for discreet power codes for a General Instruments DCT2224 cable box. I don't even know if the box supports this, but it sure would make my macros much easier!

Thank you very much for reading this, and thank you more if you can offer any advise and/or help!

***UPDATE***

I figured out how to use Prontoedit and NEOhacker to transfer the codes for the Denon AVR-1700 and the Denon DCM-306. It worked like a charm, and I'd like to thank the gentleman who provided NEOhacker, as well as the person who provided the converter.

I'm still looking for an opinion on the X10 issue, as well as the question about the General Instruments discrete power codes.

Thank you all who read and contributed!

About the X10 IR543...what do you have setup in your room? Lights? Equipment? Are you using lamp or appliance modules? If you have the appliance module that doesn't have a number setting it will not work with the IR543.

I just got the IR543 last week and the NCF's found here work for me. Maybe you have them configured wrong?

Here's what I have setup:
I have an X10 appliance module set to A1 with my backlight plugged into it.
I have an X10 Dimmer swith for my room lights set to A2.
Using the NCF's posted here I took the page that has the "hidden buttons" on it and linked as follows...

To turn on the backlight I created a button and made a macro. Backlight on is
Link to Hidden page - 1
Delay .1 sec
Link to Hidden page - On

I hope you can find the problem...feel free to email me if you have any questions.

As far as my X10 setup:

I have one switch on A1 for one lamp,
A lamp module to A2 for a second lamp,
another switch to A3 for an entryway light
and a 3-way switch to A4 for the hallway light.

All four of these work by using the hard buttons on the IR543.

AS far as macros, I have not done any, as I have just tried to use any of the programmed buttons on the X10 submission by Pat Spector. I cannot get any of these buttons to work.

-Should the led on the IR543 light up when receiving a signal?
-Do i need to program macros to get the X10 to work?

Maybe I'm completely overlooking the obvious here.

Thanks again for the help!

Congrats on your success. I have a Denon AVR-2700 (I believe same generation as your 1700). I've been able to learn all features. Unfortunately I can't get discrete power to work. I've tried plugging in values from various .NCF files, converted from .CCF files, etc. Were you able to get discretes working with your tuner?

I found out that discrete power is not supported on any models lower than the 3200 (I think it's the 3200....could be 3800) eitherway, the Denon support for discrete power codes is apparently very small.

I'll try to find a link to the exact quote.

The best I cna find right now is on the TOAD list @ the Pronto forum here:
[Link: remotecentral.com]

On the first page, it lists this post from late 1999:
"Add to the list: All Denon except AVR 5700 and AVR 3300."

As of that point (both of our receivers were out at that time) most Denon's did not support deicrete power codes. I think more of the newer ones do, but I'm not sure.

Bummer, guess I'll just have to buy a new receiver to get this to work! :-)
