I wonder if you guys can help, i have a marantz RC3200 which came with my amp and as i'm new to setting up commands and macro's i have the following problem:

I have set the control for "all systems on" to power up the amp, select sky imput, select audio channel, turn on plasma, select input 1, turn on sky and select main menu. After several attempts at this, every function works except turning the "plasma on". I have tried putting this function in different places in the chain of commands to no avail. The strange thing is that when i set up the "all systems off" command everything works as it should. I have even tried it with "delays" in between commands and it still doesn't work.

The trouble is my wife is going bonkers attempting to turn the plasma on and after she has pressed "all systems on" and the plasma doesn't come on she presses it again and the plasma comes on but everything else turns off!

Is this something simple that i'm doing wrong or is this because it's a c%$p controller, If so what would you recommend to replace it before either divorce proceedings insue or she lobs the whole lot into the garden.

You need to look for "discrete" codes for your equipment and use them in your "all systems on" and "all systems off" macros. (Discrete codes sent a signal that only turns a component on or off, instead of toggling between on and off. Other discrete codes, where available, can be used to select a specific video input or other useful function.)

Many, many discrete Pronto codes exist for lots of different brands of hardware, and you can copy and paste them directly into your NCF file in RC3200 Setup. Check the Pronto files section under "Discrete Infrared Hex Codes" for your brand and model.

Good luck.

Many thanks for your reponse, i must admit i haven't actually connected my remote to my laptop and run the software yet as i didn't want to get too deep in the programming side, but it looks like i'll have to take the plunge!

also, if you are having trouble with one component you could try adding a delay before and after it's code in the macro. It is possible that all of the codes are running together and "confusing" the plasma.

thanks tkrug, i have tried this before without any luck. What length of delay would you suggest?

Does the ON button work the TV properly on its own when not in a macro?

I would try putting the TV ON command first in the macro followed by a .2 second delay. See if that works.

Try to find the discrete On and Off codes and see if those work.

There is also the possibility that the Neo is not sending out a long enough codestring. To solve that problem you will need to download and use NeoHacker. There is a way to alter the transmission length for an individual code and many people have had luck with this. I've never had to do it but a search here should provide the details.

Yes, i have already programmed the TV side of the remote to control all the plasma functions and the ON and OFF both work fine in this section. This is where i have taken the command for to set up the macro.
