ok first of all this site is the greatest, i am spending so much time just reading different post....

ok. also i have the TSU500
anyway here is my question, i have read that with the pronto you can download codes that someone else has learned or saved? is this true and if so does any one know the codes for the new slim playstation 2?, i did a search and found one unanswered thread from a while ago. i only would like a power and reset code for the ps2.

thanks for your time
dustin

ps, after doing some digging on this site, i found a program that said that it will do all that i am looking for, but when i try to open it, i get an error message, any suggestions. i think that it might not be for my remote?...

first, yes you can download "codes" from other users. Have you used NeoEdit yet (is that the program you refer too)? If so, it is as simple as downloading another user's configuration (ncf file) and copying buttons/pages etc into your own ncf (open both your and their ncf and cut and paste). That is the easiest way. You can still use your own buttons/designs, just copy someone else's button with the codes already intact and change the button's appearance once it is in your ncf. If you are having trouble with neoedit make sure you have the latest firmware installed on your neo and that you have the latest version of the neoedit software.

The other way to "copy" codes is a bit more involved. You'd need a program called neohacker and you have to go into another user's ncf and cut and paste the actual codes into your own ncf. I wouldn't recommend this for something that is as simple as this.

Second, I would bet a gazillion space bucks that Sony uses the same codes for PS2 that they do for the slim PS2 and probably will use them again for PS3! Find a user whose ncf has the PS2 device codes and copy that device to your ncf. try it out and see if they work.

in the files section under Neo. You can't copy buttons from other types of remotes (Pronto and pronto pro use different formats).

there are two here to try:

and one here:

One of these should work.

ok i have tried and the buttons are not working, i guess that they are from an older version of the playstation that takes the memory card and driver disk. i am needing the codes for the newer slim version of the ps2.

thanks for all of your help, and i am learning a lot from this site.

ok i have copied the ncf files that you recomended and all of the functions for the playstation 2 work except for the power on/off, which is the only feature that i needed. any suggestions?

does anybody know codes for the power on and off buttons, we have a brand new playstation, we just bought less that a month ago. the remotes are @15 dollars and that is a lot of money just to have my remote learn two codes.

thanks

unless of course you learn the codes and then return the remote when you are done.

normally I wouldn't recommend such a thing, but if manufacturers simply made their codes available to the public we wouldn't have the problem so screw 'em.

i have thought about doing that, but it is such a pain to have to make two trips to the store and deal with the hastle of a return. i might end up doing that in the end. right now i am trying to convince myself that i do not need the remote.

i am also looking at ebay.

Exactly! I just want to turn it on and off... I don't think that there is an on and off button on the Sony remote. But maybe on some of the other brands (eg the ones that are selled with an custom IR reciever...

the new version of the sony remote has an off\on\reset button on it. it is the remote that is made for the slim version that had the built in ir receiver.
