Ok I almost have my remote completely configured but I have run into a snag. I have some macro's set up so that I can push 1 button and watch SAT, or 1 button to watch DVD etc. My problem is that when I hit my macro button it is not switching my TV input mode to the input mode for the device. I used the discrete codes listed on this site for Samsung HDTV's. The only one that works is S-video 2. I am not sure if it is something with delays or not. I have played around and put a .3 delay in between the actions of turning the tv on and switching to the correct input mode. That didn't seem to work. My Tv is the Samsung 46 inch DLP(HLN467W). Thanks in advance for any help you guys can offer.

Disregard, the discrete codes are working it was that I didn't have a large enough delay between the time I turn the tv on and the time I try to switch input modes. Sorry to waste peoples time

not a waste, this brings up a good point that maybe somebody will discover in the future... message boards are a place for the motivated to keep ahead of the curve...

the real solution will be when remotes are bidirectionally communicating with the hardware, so that they know when the function has completed successfully... yes I know for $5000 Crestron can solve this problem, but really... that amount of money could rent a channel changing servant for many hours to just "handle it"... :-)

man, when I was little, my dad had this setup... he must have been really, really rich... I remember him saying stuff like "put it on channel 3" and voila it would happen... oh wait... I was that servant... man how times have digressed...

Yea, there is only one thing I don't like and maybe someone can give me some ideas on how to get around this. I have my start menu set up so that you can push 1 button to activate my whole system. So for example if you want to watch DVD's, you hit the DVD button and the Tv will turn on, of course I have to delay it by 20 seconds before changing the video input, then my tuner will come on and switch input to DVD and of course the DVD will come on. Now all this works great. My one problem is this. Say for example I have been watching DVD's and I decide I want to watch the satelite. I go to my Start Menu and hit my dish button, so the tuner switches to cab/sat, then my tv takes 20 seconds to change the input mode. I really haven't thought about it much but it would be nice if you could use "if" statements and say if tv power on then skip delay. Of course it can't do this but in effect this is how I would like this menu to work. If you have any ideas on this please let me know how I might accomplish something like this with the limits of the remote.

what you want is conditional macros based on power sensing. there's stuff out there that does that, but not at the price of the NEO :-(
why don't you put a "watch sat shortcut" on your DVD page? You know that the TV is on then, so you can take out the delay here. to prevent a 20 second delay I would take the effort to make a few shortcuts between activities I do often

Maverick,
Glad your system is working. Would you mind sharing with me how you got the discrete codes into your Neo? I have the Samsung HLN617W (upgraded so the codes should work), but can't figure out how to type the hex into the Neo tool. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Greg

What you need to do is have two different "menu's". That is how I accomplish it. The main start page powers everything up and puts things in the right modes. The second "start" page is to switch between sources and change inputs on the necessary equipment. To do this I created a new device called "start menu" and the first page is my main startup page. The second page is my "switching" page. I then have a hard button (named "Menu") on every device page that takes me to this switching menu.

To make things easy, I have an ALL OFF macro which jumps to my main start up page. That way when I power up the remote the next time I am at my start page. Plus I don't need to use neohacker or anything like that.
