Completed programming my MX3000 and everything worked perfectly with ir transmission. Just finished switching to rf (MRF 300), and two of the devices are not working consistently. The 'eject' function on my dvd player works sometimes, and sometimes does not (all of the other functions on the player seem to work fine). Also, my receiver is not working consistently.

When I get home from work tonight I'll be fiddling with it again. I'll try decreasing (increasing?) the signal strength on the MRF 300 for those devices. Are there any other tips that any of you can give me to troubleshoot the problem?

Thanks.

Make sure you are using any RF address ID except 0 for operation. ID 0 is used only for checking for interference. Troubleshooting here.

hiker,

Thanks very much for the link - that didn't turn up in my forum search. I'll give it a try tonight.

By the way, the unit is not set to '0' - it's set to 3 (so we know that at least that's not the problem).

Set it back to 0 and check your placement for interference. If the codes work some of the time, this is most likely your problem. If there is interference the STATUS light will blink. Every time this light blinks it would translate to a missed command sent by the remote.

None of the usual interference 'culprits' are present in my system, but I'll sure give that a try. Thanks a million for the suggestion.

Actually, you don't need to set the MRF-300 to "0" to scan for RFI. You can just look at the RFX-150 antenna, since it also has a "status" light on it. By setting the ID, the RF signal should not be processed by the system.

Thank you,

Well, everything's working fine now. The 'trick' was to reduce the
strength of the signal sent to the emitters for the subject devices.

Thanks again to all for your input.....

i was just about to type reduce output strength i had to do the same thing. Also make sure that your RF distance is turned down slightly. I found that turning on RF only output has eliminated pretty much every small problem I had and the remote works flawlessly now.
