Yes, it will apply to all MX-950's via "Live Update"
as Fletch mentioned.

Now, look up and see I said a few weeks AFTER
CEDIA. So, I hope you guys don't go complaining
if you don't see it right away after CEDIA.

Greg :-)

Any idea if the options will be as complex as those offered for the Jump To options on the 3000 or will it be just one option to return to the page you came from?

It will work the same as on the MX-3000.

Interesting. For anyone who goes to CEDIA, please ask about this functionality on the MX-900 since it also doesn't have a Fav button (at least I don't remember seeing one in the pics). Thanks.

I'm interested to hear more thoughts on the dual-buttons. This was an idea I came up with to try to accomodate both power users and standard installations. The idea is that if you want single-stage functionality, you program both sides of the dual button to do the same thing. Guests and casual users will never know that the button CAN have two functions. But if you want easy access to both FF and Skip+, it's easy to program, yet the button layout doesn't have to get complicated for casual users.

Thoughts?

I don't have the remote in hand, but I think I would have liked it to be more defined buttons; or a more defined space between the "one" button.

Good idea, though, Darnitol, if the remote was already designed, and that's all you had to work with.

It may be a good design, period, if I had one to check out.

Greg,

One other question if you don't mind. Any knowledge of whether they will add the quick bypass functionality to the 950 that the 700/800/850 remotes have? I'm referring to the ability to hold Main and then press a button to bypass the macro associated with that button and jump straight to the device. I wonder if they might do the same so that you would hold the Listen or Watch button (depending on which section you were in). I know you can do a press vs press and hold, but I like the quick skip better.

Thanks.

I haven't actually sat down and used one of the 950's to control a system yet, but I like the Dual function buttons. The only complaint is I try to design my stuff logically, so logically, does it make more sense to have skip or FF/REW on the outer-most portion of the button? I haven't decided yet.

As for the Watch/Listen buttons, I usually use a configuration similar to this anyway, so I really like the idea. People farmiliar with URC remotes might be thrown off a bit since we're all use to a "Main" page, but I think for end users, it'll be easier in the long run.

My favorite place to map the skip and replay buttons for a Tivo, is on the channel button. It is very easy to rock back and forth with this button to get right where you want to go. I then just map the channel up and down to an LCD button, since I rarely use them.

I do the same thing with the DVD transport chapter skips.

For me, this feels much better on the 800 series design, rather than the detached channel button on the 950, or the skinny back/ahead buttons on the 950.
