Hello...all of a sudden my mx-850 in the rf only setting will not "talk" to my tv. The remote/mrf actuated the other devices, but not the tv. She works on the ir side, but not rf. I replaced the wire, re-specified which output jack, loaded a demo layout w/the current tv. Nuttin' seems to work. Any suggestions?
Tks,

What Mits TV do you have? If it's an RPTV, you will not be able to control it with a wired emitter unless you open the TV up and place the emitter inside. With most RPTVs, the IR receiving eye is inside the TV.

Mike...its a dlp set. Two days' ago I could operate the tv w/the rf mode. Don't know what I did to disable that capability though...

...I checked a week-old file and the IR blaster is on. I downloaded that old file and the tv responds. Is it "normal" for the IR blaster to affect the RF capabilities?
tks.,

No, but you must have the component set to RF to work with the blaster. Also, the front blaster is disabled if the MRF is on ID "0". Many DLP sets have the IR receiving eye inside the set as I mentioned above. Is there an actual IR receving eye on the front of the TV that you're using a wired emitter with?

no specific eye, the whole screen front acts as an "eye".

Okay, so the IR receiving eye is inside the set. With that arrangement, using a wired emitter will seldom work (not strong enough), so to use RF you must be using the front blaster of the MRF-250. Using it that way should work.

I have just started looking into remotes. We have a 52-inch Mits dlp TV and will be installing it into an entertainment center cabinet. I had planned on using a rf remote with ir flashers for the equipment that will be installed in the cabinet. From what I read here, if I go with a MX850, I should plan on opening up the TV and install the ir blaster inside. I do not want to locate the MRF 250/300 outside of the cabinet. Is this correct?

Thanks,

Lea
