This may not be the best forum for this (actually, after Cedia it might be after all).

Has anybody worked with any 'standalone' IR keypads...that is to say, the learning, code storage and flashing are all handled through one standalone decora style keypad (number of buttons does not matter). I mention Cedia because I think URC might be coming out with just such a creature (or perhaps it will require an MRF base to issue the codes i'm not sure).

This is for a bathroom install where the receiver is stashed out of sight...we just need some limited controls out where the customer can get to them (on/off volume etc.). Although there is an MX3000 and an MRF base, they were never intended to service this part of the house so a simple local keypad is all the customer wants.

I think I've heard that some Xantech keypads are standalone IR learners/flashers...i'm sure they aren't cheap, but this would work fine.

i think a netstreams keypad with built in digital amp and fm tuner would do. they can add a local cd to it too.

Niles still makes the Intellipad. It's not very fancy, but it may work for you.

The sonance K2. Elan Z100, both would need programming cables and elan needs the programmer kit, the B&K CK1.2, and soon the 1.1(wall mounted URC remotes)
There's no worse feeling than that millisecond you're sure you are going to die after leaning your chair back a little too far.
