Hi there,

I sent an email to tech support, but thought I would post my question here as well. I am programming a new MX-500. Turns out that neither of the the two Denon CD codes in the table in the appendix support my Denon DCM-460 CD changer. Ok, I thought, I'll just use the learn function and teach it the commands from the original remote. Even though the MX-500 acknowledges the commands and displays "Good," none of them work after exiting the learn function. I have read the manual and feel I am programming the remote correctly. Am I missing something? If I can't teach the MX-500 the most basic commands for my CD changer, then I will return it and look for something else.

Thanks, Steve

Follow-up - I spoke to customer support today and was told that most likely it's the batteries in the original remote that I am using to train the MX-500. He said that even though I may be getting the "Good" feedback, that the code still may be weak. So I will try replacing the batteries when I get home and report back.

Thanks, Edmund. I did try that to clear the punch through. I tried again and no luck. So...being the computer geek that I am...I decided to resort to the three-finger-salute...altered of course to the various button presses to ERASE ALL. I did so and presto...it works. So...lesson learned...don't just sit down and just blindly program in all the codes. Test the devices first...it may work as is. Now...I can't be totally certain that it was the pre-programming that did it, but I think it's probably a good rule of thumb? I'm curious how you all think. Thanks, Steve

I have a client with a DVM-4800 DVD changer. I also couldnt get the transport commands to work. He wasnt too concerned about it, so I let it go. Im curious however what the fix is.

what does the above procedure do?

Whats this about clearing punch throughs?

Im totally confused.
No, I wont install your plasma with an orange extension cord hanging down the wall.

I think the problem was the transport conrols were 'punched through' from another device to the DVD.
I doubt if that was your problem with the 850 but its worth checking out.

Steve,

I have the same Denon CD Changer and I'm having the exact same problem with my MX-500. I got mine on Wednesday and I've been setting it up to control my components over the past two nights. However, regardless of what I do, I can't get the MX-500 to learn my CD functions. I have been able to program just about everything else. Can you tell me specifically what you did to get yours to work with the DCM-460? The pre-program code 123 controls only the very basic functions, but I want to add functions and place them in a layout more convenient for me. Any advice you can offer would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Kevin
