I use Ctrl C and Ctrl V which allows me to copy
learned commands from one device to another.

This is the only method that works for me to copy codes from one device to another. Using a Shortcut works only if the original device/button is still stored in the remote. Ctrl C Ctrl V provides a true copy, allowing me to delete the original device and still use the copied code in another device. I searched all around to figure this out before bumping into this thread. Wish it could have been more intuitive. Or am I missing something?

Also, keep in mind that Ctrl C and V only makes a copy with learned commands. With IR database commands it just creates a shortcut.

So what is the correct method to use to copy an IR database command that is assigned to a hard button if you DON'T want a shortcut to ensue. Here's my predicament:

I currently have discrete ON and OFF codes assigned to the hard ON and OFF buttons on my MX-700. I want to move/copy those IR codes to new hard buttons on the LCD screen and then reprogram the actual hard ON and OFF buttons to perform system ON and system OFF macros. The problem is, I haven't been able to copy the darn IR codes from the hard buttons so I can reprogram them with my macros. Any idea how to get around this. I'm sure it's something simple, but I am clearly missing it.

Thanks,
Jeff
